Hotel room boy arrested for snatching

A hotel room boy was arrested by bystanders and a civilian volunteer after he reportedly grabbed the clutch bag of a retired public school official whom he accused of not paying for his "service" inside a theater along Colon Street two days ago.

Police identified the suspect as Jofel Sayson, 27, a native of Ronda town but presently resides in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

Sayson was arrested after he was ganged up by several bystanders along Jakosalem Street while trying to escape from a mall where he allegedly grabbed the clutch bag of the victim, Narciso Ceballos, 69, a resident of Nivel Hills, barangay Busay.

Ceballos, who claims to be a retired provincial supervisor of the Department of Education, was walking inside the mall when Sayson suddenly grabbed his bag.

It was the concerned citizens and Barangay Intelligence Network member Ramil Yamed who chased and accosted the suspect. They recovered the bag of the victim containing P3,000, gun license, assorted identification cards and a bank book.

But Sayson denied being a snatcher and claimed that Ceballos was his "customer" last Wednesday inside a theater. He said it was Ceballos who seated beside him and asked for sex for P1,000.

"Kustomer nako na siya sulod sa sinehan adtong Miyerkules. Ang sabot namo P1,000, gihikap-hikap ko niya, gi...... unya taud-taud nidiretso man og barog ug gibiyaan ko niya. Lagot ko kay wala ko niya bayri," said Sayson, who works as a room boy at a hotel in Lahug.

But Ceballos vehemently denied having acquainted with the suspect. "No I'm not, I don't know him from Adam and Eve," he told The Freeman.
