ABS-CBN Channel 2: Programming line-up

The ABS-CBN brand that longer acts as a TV channel and it is the flagship TV channel owned by ABS-CBN Corporation, a subsidiary of the Lopez Group of Companies. The third incarnation of this channel as a digital-only free-to-air broadcasting network and it repositioned to an "Entertainment and News Channel" in English, Filipino and local languages similar to the old format of China's CCTV-1 from 1995 to 2003, known as "News and Comprehensive Channel" and CCTV-4 from 1995 to 2002 airing English- and Chinese-language programs, Singapore's Television Singapura/RTS/SBC 5 from 1963 to 1993 airing English- and Malay programs, Hong Kong's ATV Home, Mexico's Las Estrellas, and United States' NBC.

May 5, 2020, was the last broadcast of the SD analog signal version.

It was officially shut down on July 10, 2020, after the House Committee on Legislative Franchises denied its application for a fresh 25-year franchise.

On September 11, 2020, the terrestrial analog TV signal of the entire country will stop broadcasting, including ABS-CBN. At this point, the terrestrial TV signals of the whole country have been fully digitized and broadcasted in high-definition.

It retains the 2016 logo and the classic slogan, In the Service of the Filipino which was used from 1989 to 2004 and 2017 to present while the 2020 theme music/song, which incorporated some elements of 1987, 1993, and Millennium themes of the network into one remixed theme.

The network broadcasts in digital 16:9 1080i HDTV and 16:9 2160p UHDTV, along with sister networks Studio 23, Cine Mo, Yey, DZMM TeleRadyo, Knowledge Channel, Asianovela Channel, Movie Central, Jeepney TV, and Myx and it broadcasts in over 90 analog and digital terrestrial television stations nationwide via satellite, using indoor antennas, cable subscription, satellite dishes and digital TV black boxes such as ABS-CBN TV Plus, GMA Affordabox, Sulit TV, RCA, Starcube and Wow. Moreover, it has about 800 cable and satellite TV affiliates nationwide.

Its programming is a generalist with locally and foreign-produced shows, ranging from lifestyle, drama, reality, kids, religion, movies, news, current affairs, politics, sports, opinions, features and business, talk, public service, and regional shows.

The channel, along with DZMM TeleRadyo only broadcasts the daily Three O'Clock Prayer, it retains the 2011 MTRCB green 'G', blue 'PG', and red 'SPG' graphic below are usually seen on the lower right or upper left corner of the screen during the entire show.

It should do is to insert simulcasts of DZMM newscasts at 5:00 AM and 4:00 PM - prompting its regional stations to air hour-long local morning shows and 30-minute local editions of TV Patrol respectively.

ABS-CBN will have to reorganize their RNG first before that happens and I don't think your idea will be quickly on the run or either. It could take them not only a year but probably almost a decade to return to that state.

With what you've said, I realize now that it won't be that easy for ABS-CBN to reboot local programming with the many considerations and demands in place as a large media company - including DTT. Taking back its retrenched regional news team and other personalities (especially MOR DJs) can be easy but the other aspects are easier said than done.

Sign-on Sequence

At the start of day's programming with SMPTE Color Bars with ABS-CBN CH.2 On-Screen Bug 1KHz Sine Wave Tone, Lupang Hinirang by UP Madrigal Singers with the PNP Band (1998 Centennial Version), Announcement, ABS-CBN Station Notice 2022 (Sign ON Version), ABS-CBN Station ID 2014 Version (5 seconds), the "nationwide satellite broadcast" advisory and remastered Independence Day 2004 Campaign.
