Two lovely and talented ladies, Morissette and Tanya Manalang, will stage their first major concert together on May 6 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) of Resorts World Manila (RWM). Making the concert billed “Platinum: World’s Favorite Hit Songs Live!” extra special is guest performer Ogie Alcasid.
Both Morissette and Tanya have accomplished a lot in their musical careers. Morissette first made waves after winning TV5’s “Star Factor” in 2012. Born and raised in Cebu, she has bagged many awards to prove her singing mettle. Among these are the PMPC Star Awards, the M.O.R. Pinoy Music Awards, the National Consumer Affairs Foundation’s Seal of Excellence Awards, and the Wish 107.5 Music Awards. She has also performed in sold-out concerts nationwide.
Morissette’s cover of Little Mix’s “Secret Love Songs” registered over 39 million views on YouTube, sealing her reputation as a true star with a wide following.
Tanya, on the other hand, made a name in the world of theater. Her role as Kim in Cameron Mackintosh’s 2014 revival od “Miss Saigon” at the West End polished her craft as an actress.
To broaden her acting prowess, Tanya was given a scholarship by Cameron at the Arts Educational School in London while she was into the grueling auditions for the musical.
Before that, Tanya performed in such musical productions as “Godspell,” “Whistle Down The Wind,” “Footloose,” “In The Heights,” “KAOS,” “The Sound Of Music,” and “The King And I.”
Last year, Tanya landed the female lead roles in acclaimed local musicals “Rak Of Aegis” and “Tick, Tick… Boom!.” She shared the stage with rocker /thespian Mig Ayesa in RWM’s twinbill offering “Curtains Up.”
Aside from being a singer, Ogie is an actor and songwriter who has 12 gold, three platinum, and another double-platinum records to his credit. He is also the president of OPM.
