Milestone: Revitalizing the urban waterfront

Proposed Navotas Coastal Redevelopment

The proposed Navotas Coastal Redevelopment has three major components: New Centennial Park, Mixed-Use Commercial Center, and Transportation Hub.

Navotas City is one of the progressive cities in Metro Manila which has continuously retained its reputation as the Philippines’ fishing capital. It is a narrow strip of land with an aggregated shoreline of approximately 4.5 Km making it the third largest fishing port in Asia and the largest in South East Asia.

Palafox Associates was commissioned to create the Conceptual Master Plan of the Proposed Navotas Coastal Development. This integrated coastal development will mark a symbolic transformation that will revitalize Navotas City. It will cover an area of approximately 10 hectares. The model waterfront development will have a Centennial Park, a 3.3 Km Linear Park, and Retail Promenade facing Manila Bay. These will be protected by a 2.5 meter above sea level dike that will act as a barrier in case of sudden sea rise. Setbacks will be established moving people onto higher ground away from risks of natural disasters and water pollution. Its reputation as a flood prone area will be changed to a cosmopolitan area for working, living, dining, and shopping enhanced by a network of pedestrian walkways, visual corridors and open spaces.

The people who work and live in Navotas can be confident and proud of their new master planned coastal redevelopment that will benefit the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit in the decades to come.

This could further change since sa area mismo na to dadaan ang expressway ng SMC papuntang Bulacan airport.
