Cool concert

“In The Mix” was a big Smart event. As early as two months ago, teenagers were already asking their parents to buy tickets for the concert that happened at the Mall of Asia Arena recently. The show featured Third Eye Blind, Twin Pines, Elle King, Panic at the Disco, James Bay and The 1975.

Those who won in the promos for the concert got the VIP treatment. Some got exclusive rides to the show, while others got jackets.

Smart Music Live was launched last July via concert.

SFEX Expansion/ SCTEX upgrading/ NLEX expansion & extension

TAGALOG NEWS RELEASE
PHILIPPINE INFORMATION AGENCY-BULACAN
Agosto 13, 2016

(SFV/PIA-3/BULACAN)

CURACHA (1998): ANG KUKURUKUKU NI GENERAL

Curacha, Ang Babaeng Walang Pahinga (1998)- Stars Jacklyn Jose, Ara Mina, Ruby Moreno and Rosanna Roces/ Directed by Chito Rono

Magandang mukha at katawan.

No harm done.

Last full show.

Evening Prayer: THANK YOU, LORD FOR YOUR LOVE TODAY, FOR KEEPING US SAFE. WE PRAY, WATCH, O LORD, THOSE WHO WAKE OR WATCH OR WEEP TONIGHT AND GIVE YOUR ANGELS AND SAINTS. CHARGE OVER THOSE WHO SLEEP. TEND YOUR SICK ONES, DEAR LORD. REST YOUR WEARY ONES. BLESS YOUR DYING ONES. SOOTHE YOUR SUFFERING ONES. PITY YOUR AFFLICTED ONES. SHIELD YOUR JOYOUS ONES. AND ALL, FOR YOUR LOVE'S SAKE. AMEN. (Followed by the National Anthem)

No unnecessary movements.

1000 Hz tone/classical music may be broadcast fifteen to twenty minutes before the actual sign-on, for local and cable TV channels, Kaya pala nag-antay pa ako ng ilang minuto sa Knowledge Channel, DZMM TeleRadyo at Jeepney TV hanggang sa lumabas ang bidyo ng Pambansang Awit.

A signal to turn on remote transmitters may be played—this is usually a series of touch tones.

EL SHADDAI by Amvel Gospel Choir

El shaddai, el shaddai,

El-elyon na adonai,

Age to age you're still the same,

By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,

Erkamka na adonai,

We will praise and lift you high,

El shaddai.

Through your love and through the ram,

You saved the son of abraham;

Through the power of your hand,

Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,

You were the God who really sees,

And by your might,

You set your children free.

El shaddai, el shaddai,

El-elyon na adonai,

Age to age you're still the same,

By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,

Erkamka na adonai,

We will praise and lift you high,

El shaddai.

Through the years you've made it clear,

That the time of christ was near,

Though the people couldn't see
What messiah ought to be.
Though your word contained the plan,

They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
Through the frailty of your son.

El shaddai, el shaddai,

El-elyon na adonai,

Age to age you're still the same,

By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,

Erkamka na adonai,

I will praise you 'till I die,

El shaddai.

El shaddai, el shaddai,

El-elyon na adonai,

Age to age you're still the same,

By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,

Erkamka na adonai,

I will praise you 'till I die.
El shaddai.
I will praise you 'till I die.
El shaddai.

ABS-CBN Sports + Action's new logo

As the nation honors Filipinos who served and fought for the country on National Heroes Day, Sports+Action (S+A), the country’s number one sports channel, relaunches with the debut of its new station ID (SID) that showcases the Filipino athlete’s journey to greatness through the values of excellence, hardwork, teamwork, resilience, and nationalism.

Witness S+A’s transformation on Monday (August 29), as it communicates ABS-CBN’s commitment to its sports advocacy via the new SID entitled “Sumasaludo sa Pusong Palaban ng Lahing Pilipino.”

Featuring an original song written and performed by rapper Quest, the new SID features a mix of iconic Filipino athletes that ABS-CBN Integrated Sports’ cameras have captured in the past years covering various sporting events such as the UAAP, NCAA, boxing, and mixed martial arts.  They include volleyball stars Alyssa Valdez and Grethcel Soltones, basketball hotshots Jeron Teng and Jio Jalalon, MMA fighters Brandon Vera and Chris Hoffman, and champion boxers Donnie “Ahas” Nietes and Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire.

ABS-CBN Integrated Sports head Dino Laurena explained that the new SID sends the strong message that Filipinos, athletes or not, will do everything for their family, and seeing them off in a better way is the driving force behind Filipino athletes to work hard and to persevere while putting flag and honor above all else in competitions.

“In our experience covering the games and interviewing the athletes, and in our interactions with ordinary people, we saw the parallelism in the life of an athlete and the common Pinoy. At the end of the day, what keeps them going and fighting is the drive to better oneself, and more importantly, to make the people they love happy,” he shared.

Laurena added that ABS-CBN Sports will be playing a more active role in the journey of both Filipino athletes and ordinary Filipinos from this point on.

“Apart from our TV programs and coverage of sports events on TV and online, we will also have on-ground projects that will have direct impact on the people. We will be the biggest supporter and cheerleader of the Filipino,” Laurena said.

The ABS-CBN Creative Communication Management Division (CCM), famous for its Summer station IDs and Christmas Station IDs, produced S+A’s new  station ID that also features young, senior, and differently-abled athletes in the sports of running, triathlon, rowing, softball, and basketball, who will both touch and amaze viewers with their competitive spirit.

Meanwhile, viewers can expect an action-packed September on S+A with the opening of UAAP Season 79 on September 3, the live coverage of tennis grand slam competition U.S. Open on September 11 and 12, Pinoy Pride 38 on September 25, and the continuation of basketball and volleyball action on NCAA Season 92 and the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference, respectively, among other exciting offerings.

You may also catch some of the action on high-definition on S+A HD on SKYcable. S+A and S+A HD are both under ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company that is in the service of Filipinos worldwide.

Witness the relaunch of S+A this Monday (August 29) on S+A ch. 23 on free TV, channel 2 on ABS-CBN TVplus and S+A HD ch. 166 on SKYcable. For sports updates, logon to sports.abs-cbn.com or follow @ABSCBNSports on Twitter and Facebook.

"Language construction aside, Kevin Trinidad, a graphic designer, visualized the new logo and may perceived it as a romantic channel instead of sports and action. Why? It's because S and A are about to kiss each other."

SM CITY BAGUIO’S EXPANSION AT FULL SPEED

This is a render showing a slightly different angle of the SM City Baguio and its expansion. I think that the expansion building is 15 floors! Once the expansion building is completed, SM City Baguio may be the tallest mall in the Philippines.

SM City Baguio’s mall expansion, The Sky Park, is now ongoing in earnest following the Supreme Court’s clarification, dated April 19, 2016 and received recently, that it is not covered by the temporary restraining order earlier issued.

What is the project about and the benefits to the public and precautions undertaken to protect the environment? For these, SM City Baguio’s management was sought.

This will “pave the way for a bigger, better, and more beautiful SM City Baguio,” and that “before the project, SM has secured the final approval and necessary permits from pertinent government agencies. Inputs from different meaningful advocacy and community groups were gathered and considered to put the project together.

“The project was designed with sustainable benefits for Baguio City residents, and to make the mall more enjoyable and relaxing for families. The Sky Park, which features green walls consisting of live plants will not only improve air quality, but will help bring concrete solutions to the continuing soil erosion in Luneta Hill.”

It will not only allow the mall to further serve its customers in the city as it will also bring in more business and employment opportunities, especially for qualified local residents. For others it can be an added attraction as its design is described as ‘green architecture.’

Underneath the structure will be a catchment tank that will redirect floodwaters from surrounding areas, helping ease flashfloods and landslides. The excess space of the catchment tank will also provide many additional parking spaces that will help decongest traffic along Session Road.

Part of the green architecture will be ‘green facilities’ to help absorb the impact of climate change such as a state-of-the-art sewerage treatment plant (STP), and an underground rainwater catchment tank having a capacity of 7,432.54 cubic meters of water which could be used in the mall’s operations.

The STP will be constructed below basement 3 of the mall expansion and it will have a capacity of at least 1,200 cubic meters daily in accordance with the amended environmental compliance certificate (ECC) to accommodate future waste water discharge of the existing mall and the expansion project. Sewer and waste water will be treated in the STP and will thereafter be recycled for non-potable uses.

Furthermore, “green walls’ consisting of live plants will help improve the air quality in the area, making the mall both relaxing and enjoyable. In certain parts of the mall, natural lighting will be used for energy efficiency.

There will also be ‘green foliage and water features’ to help mitigate heat island effect and absorb rain water. It is a landscape area, park and viewdeck with ‘green space’ located in the third floor of the existing mall. It will have an area of approximately 4,333 square meters designed as an elevated garden, which contain up to 53 species of trees and plants not merely potted plants with canopied walkways, ponds and waterscapes.

The project will add a total of 68,123.75 square meters to the original 106,939.35 existing mall bringing the total mall area to around 176,073.26 square meters.

Many observers’ concern is how the project will affect the city’s parking problems. It will generate a total of 652 additional parking slots bringing the total parking slots within the mall to around 1,419. Additional pedestrian and vehicle entrances along Gov. Pack Road will be provided in order to help decongest traffic along Session Road.

Eco-friendly LED lights and park finders will also be used in the existing and additional parking spaces to help minimize the mall’s carbon footprint. It would be easier to find available parking spaces thus contributing more to wards this end.

SM was already able to plant around 60,301 assorted tree saplings in the different parts of Baguio and nearby towns of Tuba and La Trinidad, Benguet in compliance with the permit requiring the mall to plant at least 100 assorted seedlings as replacement for every tree cut to pave the way for the project to push through. Moreover, SM committed to plant 500,000 assorted tree seedlings in various parts of Baguio and Benguet in coordination with the DENR and concerned local governments in the next five years as part of the mall’s commitment to assist the government in preserving and protecting the city’s environment.**

"Mother Lily marks 77th birthday with surprises"

The most moving moment (yes, the highlight) of Regal matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde’s 77th birthday last Friday, Aug. 19, was the loving hug and kisses the Birthday Lady planted on the cheek of her husband, Remy Monteverde (fondly and affectionately called as simply Father Remy by the industry guys).

Assisted by Stephen Tan, husband of the couple’s daughter Meme Monteverde, Father Remy was admittedly not in his San-Beda-star-player form, slightly bowed by the years, two years his wife’s senior. As cameras clicked, Father Remy broke into a weak smile after the kiss that launched a thousand sighs among the well-heeled well-wishers from showbiz, business, sports and politics.

All were accounted for at the Regal Events Place on Valencia St., Quezon City, owned and managed by Mother Lily.

There were some surprises, one of them the P1M Mother Lily donated to the MOWELFUND after Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo presented her a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the group that has been helping the less-privileged members of the industry.

“The check is not post-dated,” MOWELFUND officer Boots said in jest as she expressed “our profound gratitude.”

“I am rich,” Mother replied also in jest, “I have a lot of money.”

Three more groups gave Mother Lily their own plaques of appreciation, from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), Enpress (Entertainment Press) and SPEED (Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors), each of which also got a P100,000 donation from Mother Lily who called the movie writers, “my unsung heroes.”

“Without them,” she stressed, “there wouldn’t be a Mother Lily, there wouldn’t be Regal Films.”

There was food aplenty. Between numbers during the program first hosted by Ai-Ai delas Alas, featuring songs by Janella Salvador, Derrick Monasterio, Laarni Lozada, the Koro Tomasino group, and movie writers Leo Bukas and Oghie Ignacio. Dressed in sparkling mini-skirt, comedian Atak (best friend of the late director Wenn Deramas) brought the house down with his performance.

Raul Sunico capped the program with renditions on his piano.

Among the star-studded guests were Susan Roces with daughter Sen. Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Eddie Gutierrez and wife Annabelle Rama, Donna Villa and husband Carlo J. Caparas, Sen. Multi-talented Fil-Canadian by Crispina Martinez - Belen August 26, 2016 (updated) Read more at http://www.mb.com.ph/multi-talented-fil-canadian/#Hr6wFzo1vjWuqkY0.99

We met a talented young Fil-Canadian recently. Her name: Mary Kate Aquino. She’s only 17 but has done a lot in the field of performing arts.

A resident of Calgary, Canada, Mary Kate and her mom were in town recently for a family emergency and to firm up a recording deal with Vehnee Saturno.

Mary Kate recorded two singles this year, namely “Sayang” and “Binuhay Mong Muli.” Last year, she came out with her self-titled EP that included the song “Trouble.” The same year, she performed in her own concert titled “MKA.”

A confessed big fan of Sarah Geronimo, Mary Kate has rendered front act performances for Filipino singers who performed in Canada including Pops Fernandez, Martin Nievera, Sharon Cuneta, Sarah Geronimo, and Bamboo.

Mary Kate, who started singing in church at three years old, has competed in the World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood CA where she won seven medals. She is currently a singer-dancer with the Young Canadians Performing Arts of the Calgary Stampede.
