Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center, hailed as “The Crown Jewel of the North,” will hold the coronation night of its homegrown beauty pageant, the Search for Mr. & Ms. Ecotourism 2017, today, May 13.
The event will be by the poolside of Hannah’s Beach Resort Premium Suites in Barangay Balaoi, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.
Now on its 5th season, this year’s search marks its entry to the big league of national beauty pageants. It steps up to take a bigger role in local and global ecotourism with Hannah’s Beach Resort being the first Philippine institution to be accredited by The International Ecotourism Society (IETS) and United NationsWorld Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in recognition of its various interventions for environmental protection and the flourishing ecotourism industry, and providing livelihood for communities.
The latest additions to international and local awards and citations it has received are: The 2017 Golden Globe Awards for Business Excellence Best Beach Resort, and 2016 World Class Excellence Japan awardee in the field of Local Tourism. These were given for its critical role of having inspired the Department of Tourism to make Pagudpud a sustainable tourism destination.
Col. Ricardo L. Nolasco Jr PAF (Ret), the proprietor of the resort, left no stone unturned in making this season of Mr. & Ms. Ecotourism grander and more relevant.
A total of 12 gorgeous ladies and 12 handsome gentlemen, who are all passionate in making their personal contribution to ecotourism, represent their respective cities and provinces. They will vie in the Swimwear Competition, Long Gown and Barong Tagalog Competition and the Q & A.
The pageant will also showcase the creations of fashion icon Renee Salud, including the Mindanaon Tapestry worn by the 65th Miss Universe candidates.
Aside from prizes, the grand winners will become the official spokespersons of the resort in its promotional campaign, as well as of its advocacies of rendering corporate social responsibility projects to the communities and fostering ecotourism.

Tejada, DOT’s Tourism Promotions Board CEO Cesar Montano, DOT Region I Director Martin Valera, 2016 Miss World Philippines Catriona Gray, 2015 Miss Intercontinental Top 15 Jennifer Hammond, Renee Salud, Helen Encarnacion, pageant guru Norman Tinio, and Brix Vera, founder and co-owner of Sash Factor.
