Kylie not leaving “Encantadia” yet 0 SHARES Share it! By: Crispina Martinez-Belen Published February 4, 2017, 12:05 AM

Fans of Kylie Padilla and viewers of GMA’s top rating telefantsya don’t have to be sad: Kylie isn’t leaving the show yet.

This is according to the director himself, Direk Mark Reyes who said “Hindi pa mawawala ang character niya as Amihan.” This despite the fact that Kylie is pregnant.

As Amihan, Kylie will still be wearing amazing costumes for a time. The director also said there will be exciting surprises in store for viewers from this well-loved primetime series of GMA Network, including the comeback of Kahlil (Avery Paraiso) to help Amihan fight the Hadezars.

“Encantadia” airs weeknights after “24 Oras” on GMA Telebabad.

Inspiring short film

We were among those who recently watched at the Promenade Cinema an inspiring advocacy film directed by Paul Soriano for Joy-Nostalg Foundation. (JNF) Titled “Tagumpay Na Nagniningning,” it was conceptualized by JNF Chairman Jacinto Ng Jr. based on his own story, with screenplay by Froilan Molina. The film was produced by veteran producer-director Jeric Soriano, Paul’s dad.

The short film was conceived to embody the advocacy of Joy-Nostalg Foundation which is to help uplift the quality of life of the Filipino working classes by empowering them through education and counselling towards responsible home ownership. To promote this advocacy, JNF developed Pasinaya HELP (Home Empowerment Learning Program) which teaches them the basic principles of financial management, home ownership and appropriate family values.

At the core of Pasinaya HELP is the short film “Tagumpay Na Nagniningning” which depicts the dreams, struggles and success of the ordinary Filipino to improve their family life by having a home of their own. The theme song of the same title was also conceptualized by Jack Ng Jr. and composed and arranged by Tommy Katigbak and Eric Adorable with vocals by Gail Blanco and Dan Billano.
Both the film and theme song aim to educate and inspires viewers that with the right values and knowledge, and with love, owning a home is attainable and not impossible.

The film stars Neil Coleta, Jef Gaitan, Ronnie Lazaro, Hazel Orencio, Ruby Ruiz, and Julio Diaz.

ABS-CBN, GMA contest TV ratings

ABS-CBN said it topped nationwide television (TV) ratings for both urban and rural homes, while GMA Network claimed it was the leader in national urban Philippines in January.

Citing data from Kantar Media, ABS-CBN said more viewers from both urban and rural homes nationwide tuned in to the network in January, as it had an average audience share of 44 percent, than GMA’s 36 percent and TV5’s five percent.

Kantar Media used a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes to represent 100 percent of the country’s total TV viewing population.

ABS-CBN said it was also the preferred network across all time blocks.

For prime time (6 p.m to 12 midnight), it scored 47 percent, beating GMA’s 36 percent and TV5’s six percent.

The prime time block is considered the most important part of the day as advertisers put the bulk of their investments during that time to reach more consumers.

Apart from prime time, ABS-CBN led the morning block (6 a.m. to 12 noon) with 40 percent versus GMA’s 35 percent and TV5’s six percent; as well as the noontime block (12 noon to 3 p.m.) with 44 percent versus GMA’s 36 percent and TV5’s four percent; and afternoon block (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) with 45 percent compared to GMA’s 37 percent and TV5’s six percent.

Of the top 20 most watched programs in the country last month, 15 were produced by ABS-CBN with FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano ranking first through its average national TV rating of 37.2 percent.
Aside from Ang Probinsyano, the other top-rating Kapamilya shows include Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids, Wansapanataym, MMK, TV Patrol, My Dear Heart, A Love to Last, Home Sweetie Home, Goin’ Bulilit, Rated K, Ipaglaban Mo, Doble Kara, The Greatest Love, It’s Showtime - Saturday, Family Feud and TV Patrol Weekend.

Meanwhile, GMA said it continued to be  the country’s leading free TV channel in January through its 41.9 percent audience share compared to ABS-CBN’s 34.9 percent in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM), based on data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

GMA said the Kapuso Network was the winner from morning to primetime in NUTAM, as well as in Urban Luzon which accounts for 77 percent of all viewers in urban TV homes in the country.

Based on National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) data, seven out of the top 10 programs were on GMA.

Encantadia, still in no. 1, is followed by Alyas Robin Hood in no. 2.

Leading primetime news program 24 Oras alongside weekend top-raters Pepito Manaloto, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, and Magpakailanman also kept their winning streaks in the NUTAM figures.

GMA’s opening salvo for 2017, the romantic-comedy Meant To Be, premiered with high ratings on Jan. 9, landing a spot in the Top 10.

Other shows in the list of top programs in the survey period were Hay Bahay!, Kapuso Movie Night, Tsuperhero, 24 Oras Weekend, Someone To Watch Over Me, Wowowin, Eat Bulaga and Imbestigador.

Other shows with significant ratings included Superstar Duets, Sunday Pinasaya, Bubble Gang, and another recently launched, now much-talked show Kapuso program, Ika-6 Na Utos.

In Urban Luzon, GMA had an audience share of 48.2 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 29.2 percent.
Kapuso programs such as Encantadia, it added, likewise topped in NUTAM as more shows from GMA made it to the list of top-performing shows.

The Network’s fourth quarter ratings, with people share soaring to 40.3 percent compared to ABS-CBN’s 35.2 percent, was the main driver for GMA’s top ratings last year. GMA ended 2016 with a full year average people audience share of 37.3 percent in NUTAM, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 37.1 percent.

In December, GMA recorded its best ratings performance for 2016 as its people audience share reached 41.7 percent versus ABS-CBN’s 33.9 percent, capping off another milestone year for the Kapuso Network.

It likewise remained undefeated in Urban Luzon, which represents 77 percent of all viewers in urban TV homes in the country, with both its full year 2016 and partial January 2017 performance showing that it is still largely ahead of competition across all day parts. From December 2016 to partial January 2017, GMA’s people share stood strong at 47.7 percent, 18.9 points higher than ABS-CBN’s 28.8 percent.

The broadcast network said it once again “proved to be the Filipino viewers’ network of choice” as the GMA telecast of the Miss Universe 2016 pageant rated highest nationwide with a 57.1% people audience share, higher than ABS-CBN’s 28% and TV5’s 8.4%.

The pageant was simulcast over the three biggest networks as Solar Entertainment’s broadcast partners last January 30.
