Movie launch

“Valor” was launched recently by the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) and the Board of Trustees of Veterans of World War II (BTVWWII). The documentary recounts the heroism of the late Col. Emmanuel V. de Ocampo during the war as a member of the Hunters-ROTC Guerrillas.

The special screening of the 53-minute long “Valor” was filmed by Spyron AV Manila. The movie was written and directed by young filmmaker Bani Logrono.

The coffee table book with the same title was also launched at the Ayala Museum.

The film “Valor” also touches on Col. Emmanuel’s feats after the War especially his involvement with the veterans sector as the leader of the VFP and with PVB as well.

After the screening, a copy of the documentary was presented to the De Ocampo Family by PVB Chairman Roberto F. De Ocampo, BTVWWII Chairman, Justice Manuel Pamaran, BTVWWII Trustee Col. Francisco San Miguel and Spyron AV Manila Managing Director Lucky Guillermo. It was received by Dr. Pilar de Ocampo, the late colonel’s wife.

The documentary film was first premiered at the Presidential Museum & Library, then screened in schools and malls all over the country aimed at the youth.

ABS-CBN, GMA claim top ratings in May

ABS-CBN Corp. strengthened its dominance in nationwide television (TV) ratings in May, while GMA Network Inc. said it was the leader in urban households in the country.

Citing data from Kantar Media, ABS-CBN said it widened its TV ratings lead nationwide in May through its average audience share of 46 percent compared to GMA’s 34 percent.

Kantar Media’s data is based on a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100 percent of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

ABS-CBN said it remained king in the primetime block (6 p.m. to 12 midnight) as 50 percent of households in the country tuned in to its programs, higher than GMA’s 33 percent.

The primetime block is the important part of the day for advertisers as this is when most Filipinos watch TV.

ABS-CBN also won in the morning block (6 a.m. to 12 noon) through an audience share of 37 percent versus GMA’s 32 percent; in the noontime block (12 noon to 3 p.m.) with 43 percent compared to GMA’s 38 percent; and in the afternoon block (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) with 47 percent against GMA’s 35 percent.

It also beat GMA in different parts of the country such as Total Balance Luzon where it recorded an average audience share of 47 percent compared to GMA’s 36 percent; in Total Luzon with 41 percent against GMA’s 37 percent; in Total Visayas with 53 percent compared to GMA’s 28 percent; and in Total Mindanao with 53 percent as opposed to GMA’s 29 percent.

Meanwhile, GMA said in a statement yesterday it was the most watched TV network in May based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement’s National Urban TV Audience Measurement which showed it had an audience share of 42.5 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 36.7 percent.

GMA said it also kept its lead in Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of the total urban TV household population in the country.

In particular, GMA had a 49.8 percent audience share in Urban Luzon versus ABS-CBN’s 30.5 percent.

Kapuso programs, likewise ruled the list of top-rating programs in NUTAM with seven out of the top 10 shows coming from GMA.

The recently concluded hit telefantasya Encantadia once more clinched the top spot. Joining the list are new primetime launches Mulawin vs. Ravena and My Love from the Star, as well as consistent top-raters Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Destined to be Yours, Pepito Manaloto, Magpakailanman, Full House Tonight, 24 Oras and Saksi.

Also posting high nationwide ratings are Hay Bahay, Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko, Wowowin, Imbestigador, Eat Bulaga, Sunday Pinasaya and Follow Your Heart.

Radio GMA’s flagship FM station Barangay LS 97.1 was hailed as the number one choice of listeners in Mega Manila according to the latest survey of Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement.

Barangay LS captivated the hearts of more listeners in Mega Manila for the month of May with an average audience share of 22.2 percent, which was driven by its variety of programs and wacky bunch of DJs.
