PLDT, Inc. (formerly the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company) and Directories Philippines Corporation recently launched the 2017-2018 PLDT-DPC Telephone Directory Cover 31st Visual Arts National Competition, which encourages young and professional painters to pursue their art more seriously and hone their craft to perfection by providing incentives for them through this visual art competition.
DPC and PLDT tapped the Art Association of the Philippines to draft the mechanics for the competition. But they agreed on the idea that the competition should be to professionals and students enrolled in fine arts schools across the Philippines.
More than ₱300,000 is in store for the winners of the tilt and the Schools that they represent. Each year, the grand prize winning entry is featured in the Metro Manila Telephone Directory, which contains the White Pages and the Yellow Pages which comes in two volumes, namely: Household & Business (HB) and Commercial & Industrial (CI), while four remaining winning entries will be used for PLDT’s provincial telephone directories, which are distributed in specific areas. All winning entries are displayed in different offices of DPC.
The contest is open to all fine arts students from all over the country, enrolled during the school year 2016-2017.
Through the years, the PLDT-DPC Telephone Directory Cover Visual Arts National Competition’s theme have reflected the changing concerns of society.
For this year, DPC and PLDT choose (________) as the theme for the 120th anniversary of Andrés Bonifacio’s death.
DPC is a 100-percent Filipino-owned corporation which started operations on June 28, 1989.
The company is the official publisher of telephone directories of PLDT, Datelcom, Misortel, General Telephone System and Globe Telecom.
