There will be an exciting musical event on Oct. 11 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) presented by Resorts World Manila in cooperation with Aliw Awards Foundation Inc. and Tag Media Productions. Aptly titled “Best Of Aliw,” it brings together Aliw Entertainers of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Awardees and Hall of Famers.
The performers in the unique concert, which aims to raise funds for Aliw’s Welfare Fund and the renovation of the Christ the King Parish Church in Quezon City, include Rico J. Puno, Dulce, Lea Salonga, Jed Madela, Lisa Macuja Elizalde, Gerphil Flores, RJ Jacinto, Imelda Papin, students of Halili-Cruz School of Ballet, The Angelos and Spirit of ’67.
More awardees have indicated their desire to participate in the fundraising show and their names will be announced later. Hall of Famer Freddie Santos is the director of the show.
Media partners include Manila Bulletin. The show is also supported by Retro, Crossover, EasyRock and Mellow. Tickets are available at Ticketworld.

Cool concert
“In The Mix” was a big Smart event. As early as two months ago, teenagers were already asking their parents to buy tickets for the concert that happened at the Mall of Asia Arena recently. The show featured Third Eye Blind, Twin Pines, Elle King, Panic at the Disco, James Bay and The 1975.
Those who won in the promos for the concert got the VIP treatment. Some got exclusive rides to the show, while others got jackets.
Smart Music Live was launched last July via concert.

‘Encantadia’ theme song
Getting airplay starting late last week is “Maghihintay,” the theme song of GMA’s toprating telefantasya “Encantadia.” It is sung by Christian Bautista and Gabbi Garcia, who are also cast in the series as Apitong and Alena, respectively.
On tonight’s episode, Alena and Apitong are looking for Ybarro (Ruru Madrid). Ybarro tells Wahid (Andre Paras) he can’t go back to Encantadia.
The series airs weeknights on GMA Telebabad.
