A Indonesian company is working hard to convince you that a once-proud social networking site has been resurrected from the dead — and just in time for the holidays.
It hasn't. But that's not exactly clear when you visit the exhumed website of Multiply, the defunct social networking site.
The first thing you'll see at multiply.com is the photo of a old Multiply site that looks inviting and ready for your business.
Despite declarations of a "grand reopening" January 1 (complete with the social media hashtag #MultiplyIsBack), Multiply did not return from bankruptcy to download photos and videos. The company that was founded in December 2003 and shuttered on May 31, 2013 will return.
As I previously wrote, a Missouri company called Multiply Media LLC acquired Multiply's intellectual property for $800,000 in September 2016. That gives Multiply the right to use the Multiply name, logo and other assets. It also gives Valor access to contact information for millions of former Multiply users, email subscribers and social media followers.
News of Multiply's comeback was all over the news in both TV and broadsheets but there were no formal confirmations yet.
