Awarded indie films for commercial release

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Office of the President officially launched last night Cine Lokal with the screening of “Iadya Mo Kami” topbilled by multi-awarded actor Allen Dizon.
Cine Lokal is a partnership with SM Cinemas which dedicates eight exclusive commercial theaters nationwide for FDCP-curated award-winning and independent films. Through Cine Lokal, FDCP will be able to provide independent filmmakers with a commercial venue for their films, thereby strengthening their experience and training on film marketing and distribution.
“We are beyond honored and grateful for this show of support by no less than our President,” said FDCP Chairperson and CEO Liza Dino. “This reaffirms the government’s support to the development of the Philippine cinema. We are confident that Cine Lokal is just the start of the government and  the film industry coming together to further cultivate a culture of film appreciation that goes beyond entertainment value. This is in line with the President’s vision of using culture and arts as key elements in nation-building, as film is a powerful medium that can instill the concept of culture and identity among Filipinos,” she added.

Thursdays now have a new musical twist as Greenfield District launched recently Jazz Fest Thursdays, an upscale yet relaxed evening music lounge in an al fresco setting. Jazz Fest Thursdays brings together the best jazz performers to provide a diverse weekly musical scene – from jazz acts from veteran jazz artists to up-and-coming artists.
Jazz Fest Thursdays was launched last March 23 with headliners such as The Brass Munkeys (a New Orleans style 8-piece jazz band) and Zia Quizon. Enhancing the musical experience was a gastronomic feast from the best bars and dining spots from nearby Kapitolyo.
