We just couldn’t let January end without citing the achievements of Baby Go’s BG Productions International in 2016.
“Nakaka-proud lang,” she told us, “There’s Allen Dizon who’ve won several Best Actor awards, Natalie Hart who won as Best Actress sa international film festival in Manhattan, New York, si Aiko Melendez for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in Houston for ‘Iadya Mo Kami.’ Naging Best Children’s Film naman ang ‘Child Haus’ ni Louie Ignacio,’ ’yung bata sa ‘Lauriana,’ Adrian Cabido naging FAMAS Best Child Actor.”
One of their most memorable win last year was “Area” bagging the Special Jury Prize at the 12th Eurasia International Film Festival in Kazakhstan where the BG group went to participate and personally receive the award. Another big winner is “Laut” which won the Special Jury Prize and Best Actress award for Barbie Forteza at the 35th Fantasporto International Film Festival.
The production team shot some films abroad, like “Homeless” which was filmed in Cambodia; and the Aiko Melendez starrer “Balatkayo” which was filmed in Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Their return of investment may be a little slow in coming but the indefatigable lady producer said she is not deterred by this fact, saying “Sa lahat naman ng negosyo kailangan may tiyaga ka, maghintay ka kung kailan babalik ang puhunan mo. Ang importante sa akin as producer, ang mga pelikula ko nandiyan, nasa akin at hindi mawawala.”
