Modeling search Bodyshots is being revived by Carlo Maceda, the first Mossimo winner who became a model, actor, film director/producer and businessman.
In the recent press presentation of the candidates, he revealed it was the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (led by Digna Rosales) who asked for his help in mounting this year’s search.
“Although I did not accept the offer right away, I was already excited to do it because of the prestige and image the search has created. Definitely, it was the most prestigious modeling contest for years. And with the new leadership of the group mounting it, we can bring back the good old days when models were highly regarded or admired,” Carlo said.
Bodyshots was conceptualized by Barge Ramos (then the head of FDAP) and launched in 1986. The first search launched the modeling and showbiz careers of Eric Quizon, Richard Go (Ricardo Cepeda) and film director Lauren Dyogi. In succeeding years, the contest produced such names as John Estrada, Zanjoe Marudo, Bong Regala, Wilma Doesnt, Lou Bunyi, Gem Padilla, Patty Betita and Marina Benipayo.
“We hope to make this a bigger and better event because Bodyshots will be celebrating its Pearl Year. And that’s the reason we decided to put a theme – Environment matters,” Carlo said.
Bodyshots 2016 is on Nov. 30 at the Expo Hall of Fisher Mall.

New superhero
The newest Pinoy superhero comedy adventure “Tsuperhero” is on this month.
The show tells the extraordinary story of Nonoy (portrayed by Derrick Monasterio), a jeepney driver who turns into a superhero because of a mysterious object from a distant planet.
Derrick is very grateful to GMA-7 for entrusting him the role.
“It is my first time to portray a role like this, nakakakaba,” he said. “Pero nakaka-challenge din kaya mas pagbubutihan ko ’yung trabaho ko.”
Nonoy’s love interest is Eva (Bea Binene), a barker who finds Nonoy’s kalye attitude irritating and endearing at the same time.
Others in the cast are Gabby Concepcion, Alma Moreno, Albert “Betong” Sumaya, Philip Lazaro, Miggs Cuaderno, Annalyn Barro, Jemwell Ventenilla, and Kuhol.
“Tsuperhero” airs on GMA Sunday Grande.
