Unbottle these seven refreshing teens heralding Coca Cola’s new campaign of saying yes in the face of no!
Enchong Dee: Taking the plunge
This guy is a monster. At least that’s what his friends call him - “Halimaw” in the swimming pool. With his very powerful and precise moves in the water, he’s already received more than 400 medals in his past competitions, including a silver in the 2005 SEA Games. This year, he is gunning for another gold in the Thailand SEA Games.
Being part of national swimming team is not an easy feat especially since he has to train twice everyday, before and after classes, and still do modelling on the side!
Prior to the SEA games, he is preparing himself now as he goes to Bangkok, Thailand for the 24th World University Games where about 150 students will be joining from all over the globe. Enchong will again compete in the swimming events as the delegate of his university and the country.
Chelsea Bernasconi: Snow White with a deadly kick
You could call her Snow White with a sword. In a world where martials arts is usually associated with men, it’s refreshing to see a pretty girl kicking serious butt. Wushu champ Chelsea is the epitome of beauty and strength.
At the age of fourteen, she already earned more than 300 medals in Wushu competitions. Last August 2006, this girl won the most coveted gold medal in the spear event of the first World Junior Wushu Championships in Kuala Lumpur.
Joe Walker: Satisfies his cravings
Nineteen year old Joe grew up in London, and now whips up local culinary feasts in his native Philippines. The handsome chef has traveled around the world before finally deciding to stay put and serve in the country.
With a degree in culinary arts, Chef Joe is an outstanding master at culinary arts.
He has decided to pursue his dreams of coming back to the homeland and making delightful dishes a la Joe.
Kristine Joy Bernal: Breaks the ice
In a tropical country like the Philippines, snow is something that is impossible to happen (at least not at the moment or not until the phenomenon of global warming takes into full effect). Ice, on the other hand, can be found most of the time inside refrigerators, on a pitcher of soda, or even inside the rinks of malls.
No one could ever stop a young girl from dreaming big and reaching for the gold in a field or sport where not most Filipinos are familiar of.
Kristine, 14, is definitely not a stranger to winning medals, competing in various exhibitions, and performing in front of an audience. She wins golds and silvers almost every time she competes.
Being one of the youngest and yet the tallest at ten years old, she gracefully glided her way to the top of 2002 Skate Asia ice-figure competition winning against 512 other competitors from various countries including those from China and the US.
LA Fariñas: Liquid warrior
Water events seem all fun and thrilling, but these can get nasty especially if these already involve tussling and wrestling. Talk about World Wrestling Federation (WWF) only inside a swimming pool or ring, while wearing only a headgear and skimpy trunks.
LA considers himself at his best element while playing the sport. Being part of the water polo national team, he regularly trains and competes in and out of the country.
When not in the pool, LA is busy with school as a sophomore Computer Applications student at De La Salle’s College of St. Benilde. With academics and sports sometimes getting in the way of one another, LA maintains that he strives to be good at both.
Kim Ross delos Santos: Model unit
Beauty, glam and everything aesthetic all matter in the world of modeling. Notorious catwalk models like Tyra and Naomi may now find a new protégé in the body of the 2005 Elite Model Look Philippines runaway winner, Kim.
At seventeen, her colleagues already may consider her a pro. This has been proven when she bested 25 other local candidates at the Elite Model Look competition in 2005. She went on to compete in Shanghai, China where she learned the essentials of what it takes to be a real model.
Kim took a chance and pursued her dream. There was no turning back for this statuesque beauty.
At the present, she is one of the country’s most in-demand personalities gracing the pages of top magazines and broadsheets. Furthermore, her strut is undeniably being recognized now in the runway. This girl can surely go from high fashion, street wear to wearable couture.
Marvin Raymundo: Screen saver
“I was on board Star Cruise’s Superstar Gemini when Direk Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz first spotted me and asked whether I can guest in his show “Let’s Go!,” television’s newest and hottest model/actor, Marvin Raymundo says. “I then readily agreed. Why not?”
That one instance, where Marvin just grabbed the opportunity proved to be a life-changing move. Another top caliber director, Direk Gilbert Perez, has put him in ABS-CBN’s sineserye, “May Minamahal.”
“I really wanted to be in show business. I heard it’s tough out there. But I am here to prove and challenge myself to become a real star,” he says with full enthusiasm.
Currently, Marvin is part of Star Magic Batch 15 and is regularly appearing in several TV commercials.
These young hopefuls have said yes in spite of serious obstacles. With determination, passion, and focus, they have pursued their dreams. Coca-cola fully supports today’s generation of achievers.
