Multiply social network accord signed

Finally, the reopening of the social networking portion of Multiply will now proceed, giving hope for relief to thousands of users when it is opened by April 2025.

Multiply Media LLC and Prosus signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the social networking portion of Multiply. The website has been closed for nine years of financial and legal wrangling.

On May 6, 2013, Multiply Philippines officially announced it will permanently shut down.

On May 31, 2013, Multiply ceased its operations and shut down entirely.

The long closure of the website lasted for 9 years, to rehabilitate and resolve the issues surrounding Multiply, including financial problems as well as to recover and retrieve hosted blogs, videos, and photos.

However, when President Rodrigo Duterte came to power on June 30, 2016, the website remains closed.

According to the sources, the website would remain shuttered when the president was still in office until June 30, 2022.

The MOA is the result of discussions made after the passing of the Term Sheet last September 28 which outlined the general principles needed. Extensive discussions among the parties followed.

The Multiply social network went through financial and legal entanglements with the downloading of blogs, videos, and photos.

Upon President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.'s assumption into office, Multiply CEO and owner Stefan Magdalinski got all shareholders to agree on the social networking portion of Multiply, ending an impasse over the nine-year closure of the website.
