Bongbong to ABS-CBN: Comply with laws to regain legislative franchise

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘’Bongbong’’ R. Marcos Jr. sees nothing wrong with ABS-CBN applying for a franchise to operate its giant telecommunications business.

All ABS-CBN has to do is comply with the laws and regulations that the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Franchise found violated, Marcos said.

To his understanding of the failure of ABS-CBN to get its franchise renewed, according to Marcos, was that the Lower House ‘’found many violations, not just stocks, but also questions on documentation, etcetera.’’

All these things were the bases for the non-renewal, he added.

“If ABS-CBN could take care of all these problems as highlighted by the House committee, why not apply for a franchise?’’ Marcos pointed out.

He expressed optimism that the Lower House committee and the entire House would then go through its public hearing process once ABS-CBN has complied with the requirements sought by congressmen.

Marcos said the political stand of ABS-CBN ‘’is not an issue here.’’

He expressed optimism that the Lower House committee and the entire legislative chamber would then go through its public hearing process after the telecommunications giant has addressed the problems pointed out by the House committee.

Marcos said the country would have an increased telecommunications network once ABS-CBN is allowed to resume operations.
