The alleged “bastardized” version of Lupang Hinirang was sang by Martin Nievera at the start of the bout between Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. on May 3, 2009.
But Nievera has maintained he did nothing wrong, and he is unrepentant. He insisted he interpreted the song the way he “understood” it.
Four years later, the 2013 version of Lupang Hinirang produced by ABS-CBN first aired during the Kapamilya Flag Raising Ceremony on June 12, 2013 until the network's shutdown last May 5, 2020.

After 11 years, Lupang Hinirang by UP Madrigal Singers with the PNP Band (1998 Centennial Version) is making a comeback on ABS-CBN, Studio 23, PTV and IBC during signing off and on messages, now digitally enhanced and remastered version in 4K UHD and 1080p Widescreen.
Just monitor for if at any point, ABS-CBN will update their TOCs or master controls for both channels.
