DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Residents of Compostela Valley held a thanksgiving ceremony yesterday, a day after voting in a plebiscite that seeks to rename the province to Davao de Oro.
The counting of the ballots was slow as it was done manually, according to Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy.
Initial returns yesterday showed the results were in favor of the renaming of the province.
Election returns have yet to be completed and submitted to the Provincial Plebiscite Board of Canvassers as of yesterday afternoon.
The thanksgiving, attended by local government officials, paved the way for the identification of individuals affected by calamities and crisis for the distribution of assistance.
