ABS-CBN, GMA claim Sept ratings lead

THE television ratings war continued in September, with ABS-CBN Corp. claiming to lead all over the Philippines, while its rival GMA Network Inc. maintained its hold in the Greater Manila area.

Citing data from separate ratings service providers, both broadcast networks claimed on Wednesday the status as the most viewed network.

The Kapuso network said in a statement it had an average total day audience share of 31.7 percent in urban Luzon, slightly higher than their competitor’s 30.7 percent.

In Mega Manila, GMA said it beat ABS-CBN with a total day average audience share of 31.7 percent, against the latter’s 28.1 percent.

GMA’s data came from a Nielsen TV audience measurement, which has a nationwide sample size of 3,500 urban and rural homes.

Based on Kantar Media data, ABS-CBN said in a statement it defeated GMA by 14 points in the nationwide TV ratings game, reaching 45 percent versus the Kapuso network’s 31 percent.
