Southern Leyte now gets 2 representatives in House

PRESIDENT RODRIGO R. Duterte has signed a new law dividing the province of Southern Leyte into two legislative districts. Republic Act. No. 11198 was signed by Mr. Duterte on Feb. 1 and released yesterday. The new law states that on the next national and local elections, Southern Leyte “is hereby reapportioned into two legislative districts.” The 1st District is composed of Maasin City and the municipalities of Macrohon, Padre Burgos, Limasawa, Malitbog, Tomas Oppus, and Bontoc, while the 2nd District covers the municipalities of Sogod, Libagon, Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Saint Bernard, Anahawan, San Juan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan, and Silago. The new law will take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. — Arjay L. Balinbin
