A fire inside the SM Megamall complex in Mandaluyong City on Thursday was raised by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to the third alarm.

Thick smoke filled the insides of the mall, and was also seen coming out of the affected area. According to a report from Radyo Inquirer, the firefighters are currently trying to douse the flames, which started by 7:30 p.m.

According to SM Megamall’s statement, they are currently addressing the emergency concerns.

“Our Emergency Response Team, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection are already managing the situation,” SM Megamall said in a post on their Facebook page.

“We are taking all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of everyone in complex,” they added.

On the other hand, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to avoid the area.
