“Napaka-importante nito sa pag rehabilitate ng Marawi sapagkat ang unang pangangailangan ng mga bata duon ay eskwelahan (This is very important in rehabilitating Marawi because schools are the primary need of the children there),” Gozon said.
“Kami dito sa Filipino-Chinese community, we have to share what we have with the poor ‘kababayans’ just to show them that we also love them,” Yap remarked. “We hope that this will pick up efforts for the rehabilitation and construction of destroyed public schools.”
GMAKF has repeatedly visited Lanao del Sur to find out how it could best respond to the needs of the residents of Marawi who were displaced by the armed conflict. Many schools were reduced to rubble. The Department of Education will re-enroll the displaced students outside of the most affected area while the bombed out area gets rehabilitated by the government.
“The youth is the future of our country. Education is the way to improve your life,” shared Escudero-Catibog.
GMAKF will rehabilitate and rebuild three schools in Marawi City and will build a total of 18 classrooms at Datu Saber Elementary School (8 classrooms), Pendolonan Elementary School (6 classrooms) and Camp Bagong Amai Pakpak Elementary School (4 classrooms).
FFCCCII is one of GMAKF’s top donors for its Rebuild Marawi Project and through its generosity, the lives of generations of children in Marawi will change for the better.
