Vehnee Saturno has built a solid reputation as top songwriter 38 years into the ’biz. ABS-CBN’s “ASAP” even gave a tribute to his hit compositions with Martin Nievera as main performer two years ago.
Vehnee’s first hit in 1983 was the song “Be My Lady” which launched both his and Martin’s careers as songwriter and recording artist, respectively. That big break led to a string of gold, platinum, and multi-platinum record awards. Hit after hit, his songs did wonders to the rising careers of Donna Cruz, Jessa Zaragoza and Jaya. Even Jay R and Sarah Geronimo acknowledge the fact that Vehnee’s songs greatly contributed to their respective careers.
Lately, Vehnee has been exploring the artist management field more seriously. Some of those he has helped are James Wright for whom he produced an eponymous album which won Gold Record; Beverly Caimen who won Best Vocalist at WCOPA and currently making waves in Japan’s music scene; Esang de Torres who trained at Vehnee Saturno Music Training Center (VSMTC); and R&B singer Daryl Ong whose rise to stardom began when he made his own version of Vehnee’s “Ikaw Na Nga” first sung by Willie Revillame.
