ABS-CBN pays tribute to Filipino soldiers

ABS-CBN celebrated recently the bravery and heroism of Filipino soldiers via a variety show held at the AFP Medical Center Auditorium called “Saludo Sa Sundalong Pilipino.”

The Kapamilya network, with the help of the AFP, granted the request of the soldiers to meet the stars of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”

“The Voice” Season 2 finalist Daryl Ong opened the jam-packed show, attended by over 150 soldiers. He was followed by group performances by the show’s “CIDG” boys as with Awra, Ligaya, and Pacquito; and the love team of Ejay Falcon and Yam Concepcion.

Yassi Pressman and Coco Martin also got to serenade the troops, while Susan Roces, Jaime Fabregas, Mitch Valdez, Angel Aquino, Sid Lucero, and Mark Lapid gave messages of gratitude to the nation’s heroes.

The event, which was also graced by ABS-CBN executives Carlo Katigbak, Cory Vidanes, Laurenti Dyogi, Deo Endrinal, Jun Dungo, and Kane Errol Choa, was the idea of ABS-CBN news reporter Chiara Zambrano, who was assigned to cover the war in Marawi and saw firsthand the sacrifices of our military.

Coco thanked the network for the chance to serve the country’s heroes.

Major Marissa Narag of the AFP Medical Center also thanked the network.

Aegis to tell life story through concert

Aegis, one of the country’s most successful rock bands, tells their life story through a concert billed “Aegis Na Aegis: A Story Of Us,” to be held on Sept. 1 at the award-winning Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) of the Resorts World Manila (RWM). It’s a homecoming concert for Aegis who had just completed a memorable US tour.

The iconic rock band (composed of sisters Juliet, Mercy and Ken Sunot, vocals; Stella Pabico, keyboards; Rey Abenoja, guitars; Rowena Adriano, bass; and Vilma Goloviogo, drums) will bring audiences down memory lane, retracing their rise to fame through songs.

Celebrating their two decades of existence next year, Aegis considers their NPAT show a most significant one, considering it is a 1,500-seater venue.

“Makakaya kaya namin punuin ito?” they humbly expressed during their recent meeting with the press.

They promised to do their best to make “Aegis Na Aegis: A Story Of Us” a memorable one for fans.

Aegis is best remembered for their hit songs “Halik,” “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” “Luha,” and “Sinta,” which they will perform at the concert, of course. They will also be doing covers as well as songs “na ’di pa naririnig ng mga fans sa mga previous shows namin.”

“Aegis Na Aegis: A Story Of Us” is presented by RWM in cooperation with Ultimate Shows. Inc. with direction, concept and script by Lambert de Jesus.
