Gerald Anderson can be friends with his exes

Gerald Anderson, 28, said his morning drama series “Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin” was instrumental in him forging renewed friendship with actress Kim Chiu, reportedly his girlfriend for four years.

“Kaya ko pong sabihin ang totoo na kaya ko pong makipagkaibigan sa ex ko. At dahil po ’yan sa show kong ginagawa na sobrang blessing nga siya dahil nabigyan ako ng chance na makasama ko ang ex ko,” said he at the press conference for his latest film “Can We Still Be Friends?”

He added he now can ask Kim about her life while he can talk freely about his with her. “Truly, every time na magkasama kami ay nangungumustahan kami. Kaya ko talaga maging friends with my ex but it takes time,” stressed Gerald.

He also believes it’s better that he and his ex are friends especially in showbiz which he describes as a “small industry.”

“Pangit ’yung iwas-iwas ka at ayaw mong makita ’yung tao. I respect my ex so much at sayang naman ’yung mga years na nagsama kami,” he said.

His real life experiences are reasons the actor could relate well to his movie “Can We Still Be Friends?” Directed by Prime Cruz, the Star Cinema movie is set for a June 14 opening in cinemas nationwide and it also stars Arci Muñoz. This marks their second tandem after “Always Be My Maybe” in 2016.

Gerald is Digs in the movie who broke up with his girlfriend Sam, played by Arci, after eight years. The irony is that after their break-up, both found themselves “checking” each other’s lives.
