ABS-CBN Corp, the country’s largest media and entertainment company, expects to widen its ratings lead, with sales of its TVplus digital boxes expected to reach 3 million by June, an official said Friday.
Digital TV ratings showed ABS-CBN ahead of GMA Network nationwide with 42 percent versus 18 percent, and in Mega Manila with 39 percent versus 22 percent for the competition, ABS-CBN chief financial officer Aldrin Cerrado said.
"With ABS-CBN ahead in selling DTT boxes, it will be very challenging for audiences to switch boxes when they're already invested in a box," Cerrado said in a briefing for investors.
Cable and digital TV share is also growing compared to analog TV, accounting for 31.7 percent of audiences. Of the total, 23.8 percent are on cable while 7.9 percent are on digital TV, Cerrado said.
With 3 million TVplus subscribers, and the audience share will increase to 9 percent, he said.
