Robin won’t let youngest daughter join showbiz By: Crispina Martinez-Belen Published December 7, 2016, 10:00 PM

In his recent meeting with entertainment writers, Robin Padilla said he won’t allow his daughter with wife Mariel Rodriguez (Maria Isabella) to enter show business.

“No way I’m letting her to be in show business. Gusto ko maging farmer siya,” he said.

“Ako kasi, ’yun ang ultimate dream ko – to be a farmer. ’Yung mabalik ako sa ranch. Ang tatay ko talaga rancher, hindi naman talaga siya politician, napilitan lang siya to go into politics para makatulong sa mga tao. Ang mahirap lang ngayon, tumutulong ka na, napapatay ka pa…”

For the actor, his biggest gift this 2016 is the absolute pardon he recently received from President Rodrigo Duterte whom he supported during the last presidential election. “Ito ang pinaka-highlight ng taon para sa akin. Totally unexpected talaga, hindi ko inasahan.”

Is there a chance President Duterte will give him a government position?

Naintindihan namin dalawa na mas makakatulong ako sa kanya kung wala akong posisyon. Para pwede niya ako utusan sa lahat ng bagay. Kasi kung meron kang appointment, hanggang du’n ka lang,” Robin said.

Collaboration with YouTube stars

When singers MJ Labenia and Lesha Litonjua and vlogger Tops Unay were declared the top three winners of Smart Launchpad, a search for promising content creators, one of their prizes was a chance for a collaboration with international YouTube stars.

The three were chosen from 100 finalists out of 1,537 entries from all over the Philippines. They will fly to Los Angeles, California early next year for a shoot/collaboration with The Filharmonic, a vocal group composed of six Filipino-Americans.

The Filharmonic, consisting of VJ Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Barry Fortgang, Jules Cruz and Niko Del Rey, was featured in the Universal Pictures hit movie “Pitch Perfect 2.”

The chance to work with their countrymen is something The Filharmonic looks forward to. The group members are very proud of their Filipino ancestry.
