The Halili Cruz School of Ballet (HCSB) won gold trophies and medals in the major categories at the recently concluded Asia-Pacific Dance Competition held at the Sands Theatre in Macau.

HCSB topped the Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance categories winning over more than 800 dancers from 35 ballet schools and dance companies from Australia, Malaysia, Macau, Hong Kong, China, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Indonesia and Singapore.

The Asia-Pacific Dance Competition is organized by the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD). It is considered the most prestigious multi-genre dance fest in the Pan-Pacific region.

The ballet company’s artistic director Shirley Halili-Cruz and its associate directors-choreographers Grace Garalde and Anna Halili-Cruz Bueno have consistently notched great achievements for the country in many international events.

Recently, HCSB won five top awards at the 2016 Dance Excellence held in California. They also performed in Disneyland, Anaheim where they were conferred the Global Arts Award.

HCSB will represent the country in the Andong Dance Festival and Competition in South Korea from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9.
