Priest and Bishop Registration for WYD is Ongoing

Registration of priests and bishops for WYD is still ongoing. The events of World Youth Day will involve many priests and bishops fulfilling the work of ministry, and not only those from Poland, but from the whole world who will come to Krakow either with groups or themselves. Besides participating in the Eucharist, priests will minister in confessionals, while many bishops will be engaged in leading catecheses for pilgrims.

The organizers are directing invitations to priests to help with priestly ministry – giving out Holy Communion during Mass at Błonia and Campus Misericordiae and ministering communion in the Reconciliation Zone.

“In the Year of Mercy the sacrament of confession bears a special meaning, and so we ask priests to take on ministry in confessionals in the Valley of Mercy in Łagiewniki, in Jordan Park or in St. Mary’s Basilica. We sincerely welcome priests to take on this ministry which Pope Francis asked for, the ministry of reconciling with God, the sacrament of Divine Mercy,” said Fr. Andrzej Wołpiuk, coordinator of the Registration Section of the OC WYD Krakow 2016.

We are expecting that in the events of WYD, around 15 thousand priests will take part. “There were around 14 thousand priests who took part in WYD in Madrid. We are thinking about a similar number at WYD in Krakow,” adds Fr. Wołpiuk.

Registration of priests will last, like in the case of that of pilgrims – until the end of June.

Registration of bishops is taking place through a special registration module. In the first phase there is need to fill out a document on paper – you can download and print it from the registration system (HERE). Bishops from abroad send a filled out document to the Pontifical Council for the Laity, whereas Bishops from Poland send it to the Organizing Committee of WYD. There data entered into the system creates an account, where the bishop or his secretary can finish filling out a registration form.

“It is worth remembering that bishops perform an additional role – in many cases they will be involved in leading catecheses, which will be conducted in around 280 places,” said Fr. Wołpiuk.

The idea of Days in the Dioceses

Days in the Dioceses, preceding the main celebrations of World Youth Day, are a time that pilgrims spend in selected dioceses of the country that organises the meeting of young people.  In Poland they will take place between20th and 25th of July, and they are already being prepared in 43 dioceses of the country (41 Roman Catholic dioceses and 2 Greek Catholic).
For the pilgrims the Days in the dioceses are an invitation to discover the richness of the Church and of the country that they visit, as well as to meet families and young people who want to receive them. For the hosts it’s an opportunity to take part in the feast of faith and joy together with young people from all over the world.
Thinking about the pilgrims that will come for World Youth Day 2016, every Polish diocese has taken a name from the Bible. Those names characterise the local Church as well as the particular parts of the country, and on the other hand, they announce the message that the hosts want to share with their guests. Behind every diocese’s name there is some experience of God’s Mercy over the ages-oldhistory of Poland. That is why the whole country is called a Camp of Mercy - Campus Misericordiae.
Dear Pilgrims! We invite you to choose on your own the diocese where you want to spend the Days in the dioceses.  May this time be an opportunity to get to know Poland and to experience polish hospitality. But first of all, let it be the strengthening of your faith that you will share later with young people in Krakow and in your countries.
To get more information about organisation and registration for the Days in the dioceses, contact the WYD coordinator in a selected diocese or write on the following address:  dioceses@krakow2016.com

Days in Dioceses

Dear Pilgrim,

We cordially invite you to register for Days in the Dioceses, which will take place in all Polish dioceses (except for Krakow Archdiocese) from July 20 to 25 2016.

In order to register yourself for Days in the Dioceses:

- Choose, together with your group, the diocese in which you would like to spend Days in the Dioceses.

- Making use of the contact details given below, connect with the World Youth Day Centre in the diocese you have chosen in order to obtain information concerning the available space and the manner of registration.

- Register in accordance with the instructions given by the WYD Dioceses Centre. Remember: the WYD Organizing Committee does not act as a go-between in the registration process! The only condition for registering a group is to complete the formalities pointed out by the WYD Dioceses Centre and obtain a confirmation of registration sent by an e-mail. If you have any questions, you can contact us at:

The cost of participating in Days in the Dioceses is 30 EUR. This cost has been approved by the Polish Bishops´ Conference, and is the same for all dioceses. The method of payment should be agreed with each diocese.

Let us hope that your Days in the different Dioceses would be a time for exploring the Church in Poland and for strengthening faith, which we will be sharing together in Krakow.

See you there!

"panatang makabayan"

Radio Version:
"Ating bigkasin ang Panatang Makabayan
bilang sagisag ng ating pagkakaisa
sa pagbabago tungo sa kaunlaran ng ating bansa.
Ang panatang makabayan,
iniibig ko ang Pilipinas
Ito ang aking lupang sinilangan
Ito ang tahanan ng aking lahi
Ako'y kanyang kinukupkop at tinutulungan
Upang maging malakas, maligaya at kapakipakinabang

TV version:
"Bilang tanda ng ating pagka-Pilipino,
ating bigkasin ang panatang makabayan:
Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas,
aking lupang sinilangan,
tahanan ng aking lahi
kinukupkop ako at tinutulungang
maging malakas, masipag at marangal
Dahil mahal ko ang Pilipinas,
diringgin ko ang payo
ng aking magulang,
susundin ko ang tuntunin ng paaralan,
tutuparin ko ang tungkulin
ng mamamayang makabayan,
naglilingkod, nag-aaral at nagdarasal
nang buong katapatan
laalay ko ang aking buhay,
pangarap, pagsisikap,
sa bansang Pilipinas.
Isabuhay natin ang pagiging makabayang Pilipino,
sa isip, sa salita at sa gawa."
