ABS-CBN: The return and phenomenal growth

On September 4, 2020, ABS-CBN's aggressive plans to build more AM and FM radio and analog and digital UHF and VHF television transmitting stations for the rest of the year got its initial big push having secured 30 permits from local government units in Luzon, Visayas and in Mindanao.

Information gaps during the wall-to-wall media coverage of typhoons that occurred in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2020, particularly Masbate earthquake, Typhoon Molave (Quinta), Typhoon Goni (Rolly), Typhoon Vamco (Ulysses) and Tropical Storm Krovanh (Vicky) - including the ensuing widespread floods in Cagayan Valley, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region and Caraga, were attributed to the ABS-CBN shutdown, with reports noting the void left by the closure of its provincial news bureaus and lack of a strong signal reach in provinces far from Manila.

On October 24, 2020, ABS-CBN pays our deepest condolences to the families of the late director and loyal Kapamilya Al Quinn Pastrano he was passed away on this day at the age of 86 due to the CoVID-19 pandemic. Al was a director ABS-CBN's top-rated comedy sitcom Quizon Avenue (led by the King of Comedy Dolphy) and musical variety show Superstar (led by Superstar Nora Aunor) which was aired by RPN. He is also a director of some TV specials of the network such as Binibining Pilipinas and Airtime Marketing specials such as PMPC Star Awards (both in movies and television franchise), Box Office Entertainment Awards, FAMAS and Metro Manila Film Festival (awards night).

Sabi ni Inna Kim: "Hope that Congress will tackle the ABS-CBN franchise issue once again." "Kasi ang daming hearings tapos mauuwi pala sa pag-tanggihan ng prangkisa it's better to wait 2022 elections, and by the way if ever makabalik ang ABS-CBN sa Free TV Analog and Digital are back to zero dahil yung mga karapatan ng pagsasahimpapawid katulad ng UAAP, NCAA at kabilang sa ay napunta sa ibang istasyon at yun mga artista na nag ober da bakod eh sana maka survive ang ABS-CBN sa ganito sitwasyon." (Because the many hearings then end up in the rejection of the franchise it's better to wait 2022 elections, and by the way if ABS-CBN ever returns to Free TV Analog and Digital are back to zero because the broadcasting rights like the UAAP, NCAA and among them went to another station and those actors who went to other stations, hopefully ABS-CBN can survive in this situation.)

"Let us make 2022 the Year of Normalcy when Massive Vaccinations will be held globally and the return of ABS-CBN's free-to-air radio and television broadcasting operations!"

Pero mukhang “Christmas ID” nalang ang tawag dahil wala sila sa channel 2 station or network? Meron namang Kapamilya Channel Station ID? Baka mali lang? Haha! Anyway, we all can't wait sa Christmas Station ID.

Ok lang din kahit anong itawag hahahaha basta tuloy ang tradisyon, exactly! Bahagi na ang Paskong Pinoy 'yung Christmas Station ID. Not just with ABS-CBN, kahit sa GMA at ibang himpilan o network. Parang normal thing na ang Christmas Station ID's sa Paskong Pinoy.

On November 27, 2020 ABS-CBN released the lyric video of Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya, its Christmas theme song featuring performances from 20 Kapamilya stars. The lyric video debuted during ABS-CBN’s newscast TV Patrol, after its advanced release earlier at noon on iWant TFC.

Released amid the coronavirus pandemic, and after the forced broadcast shutdown of ABS-CBN that resulted in the retrenchment of thousands of workers, Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya speaks of fresh starts and hope, drawn from faith.

The song, penned by Robert Labayen and Love Rose de Leon with music by Thryo Alfaro, also highlights the love we share to our fellowmen and our gratitude to God, the primary source of light and joy of every family, ABS-CBN said.

In line with its theme of spreading inspiration around the world, a portion of the song translates liwanag and ligaya in several languages, including Waray, Kapampangan, Maguindanao, German, Italian, Japanese, Javanese, Korean, Lao, Malay, Odia, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic.

Interpreting the song are ABS-CBN stars Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Ogie Alcasid, Morissette Amon, Bamboo, Janine Berdin, Darren Espanto, Vice Ganda, Sarah Geronimo, Toni Gonzaga, Jona, Moira dela Torre, Martin Nievera, Elha Nympha, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Inigo Pascual, Angeline Quinto, Lea Salonga, Erik Santos, KZ Tandingan, and Gary Valenciano.

The Friday release of the lyric video comes a few days before the premiere of ABS-CBN’s Christmas station ID, scheduled on Tuesday, December 1.

It continues to bring joy and inspiration to Filipinos on different platforms on TV and online with upcoming teleseryes “Init sa Magdamag” and “Huwag Kang Mangamba,” and fresh episodes of “MMK.”

Gerald Anderson, JM de Guzman, and Yam Concepcion will star in the new fiery teleserye “Init sa Magdamag.” Fans of The Gold Squad are also in for all-new surprises, including their upcoming teleserye “Huwag Kang Mangamba” starring Andrea Brillantes, Francine Diaz, Seth Fedelin, and Kyle Echarri.

Viewers will also get to see new stories of hope and triumph over life’s greatest crises in the fresh episodes of “MMK” featuring, with stars Sylvia Sanchez, Arjo Atayde, Jane de Leon, Angel Aquino, and Joshua Garcia.

On November 29, 2020 ABS-CBN mourns and condolences to the families of the late two iconic OPM legends -- Vladimir "Jamir" Garcia and April Boy Regino.

Jamir was passed away recently at the age 42 due to his mental health condition last November 26 and April Boy was passed away at the age of 51 due to prostate cancer on this November 29.

Jamir and April Boy was appeared in some programs and guesting's such as It's Showtime, ASAP, Wowowee, Kris TV, Magandang Buhay, Rated K, Umagang Kay Ganda, The Buzz, Happy Yipee Yehey, Myx and MOR 101.9 My Only Radio For Life due to his promotional of recordings via Star Music.

On the same day, ABS-CBN was named Best National TV Station of the Year at the 6th Platinum Stallion National Media Awards 2020 of Trinity University of Asia.

Hong Kong will end analogue TV services on November 30, 2020 at 11:59:59 p.m., entering an era of full digital TV broadcast on December 1 at 12 midnight.

But a government survey in October this year has shown that around 58,000 households were still using analogue TVs.

On December 1, 2020, ABS-CBN released its 2020 Christmas ID with the theme “Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya.”

Set to the viral tune of the same title, the music video highlights stories of hope, light, and joy drawn from faith in God, amid the trying year that has seen a global health crisis, successive calamities, and other challenges.

These include the stories of Arjanmar and Khaye Rebeta, whose relationship was tested by the pandemic; Monching Bueno, who served frontliners despite his own loss; Rodolfo Ariño, a PWD breadwinner; and Peter Roncales, who braved odds to reunite with his loved ones.

On December 3, 2020, according to Mr. Tony Boy Bautista on his Facebook account: "Hopefully, iWantTFC will be revamped."

Meanwhile, Buhay Party List Rep. Lito Atienza said that it is not a prediction but it will be true that ABS-CBN will open in 2021 now that Rep. Allan Lord Velasco is the Speaker of the House of Representatives. "It's not a prediction, that's a reality that will happen," I also asked about it. "I am really confident, justice will prevail by next year," he said. “They were maltreated, they were maltreated, they were eventually assassinated, so they should be given justice.

“I, I am just giving the new Speaker time to settle. We can't be surprised, major battle, he just sits. But I am not shying away from the responsibility and for the opportunity to come - that I’m working on - so that we can return to the floor discussion. Not the special firing squad. The one who killed ABS-CBN, just firing squad, eh,” he said.

On December 4, 2020, Boyet Baldemor is the new director of It's Showtime (later replaced by MTB), replacing Bobet Vidanes moved to Lunch Out Loud of TV5.

At a media event held by the network’s talent agency, fittingly titled “Star Magic Shines On,” ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak and newly appointed Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi each thanked Kapamilya stars who continue to be part of the company.

The event saw eight current Star Magic artists — Kim Chiu, Jane de Leon, Enchong Dee, JM de Guzman, Andrea Brillantes, Kira Balinger, Joseph Marco, and Robi Domingo — sign exclusive contracts with ABS-CBN.

It also introduced new Star Magic talents — the ABS-CBN-trained P-pop groups BINI and Star Hunt Academy Boys — who similarly inked contracts with the network.

“Ang hirap-hirap po ng taong 2020,” Katigbak said in a speech opening the event. “But ABS-CBN has always been at its best in its most difficult times. This year is no exception.”

Compounding the halt of showbiz due to the coronavirus pandemic, ABS-CBN was denied a fresh broadcast franchise by the Duterte administration, forcing it off free television and radio, and resulting in the retrenchment of thousands of its workers.

“Our commitment to serve the public is the foundation of our company,” Katigbak said. “And so, even without everything that we’re used to, we have not stopped finding new ways to be in the service of the Filipino.”

Katigbak then addressed the stars, whom he said “represent ABS-CBN to the world outside.”

“Kayo po ang nagbibigay ng liwanag at ligaya sa ating mga Kapamilya,” he said, referencing the recently released ABS-CBN Christmas ID.

“Thank you for choosing to be part of our mission. Thank you for believing in our company. And thank you for supporting us in our most difficult moments.”

Over the months since ABS-CBN’s free-TV and radio broadcast were forced shut, many of its stars, both homegrown and long-time contract talents, rallied behind the network through social media and by joining demonstrations.

Among them were the eight Star Magic artists who formalized being an exclusive ABS-CBN talent on Friday.

“I hope you believe, as we do, that working in ABS-CBN is not just a career move, it’s not just a job; it’s a calling to serve.”

Katigbak ended his message by introducing Dyogi as the new head of Star Magic, succeeding founder Johnny Manahan and Mariole Alberto.

“Thank you to Mr. M and Mariole, Star Magic is known to produce, to hone, and to manage the brightest and most talented stars in Philippine show business,” Dyogi said.

“Today, we continue this legacy and tradition.”

Dyogi, known in showbiz as Direk Lauren following his visible stints as “Star Circle Quest” judge and “Pinoy Big Brother” director, is also head of ABS-CBN’s entertainment production.

“As we welcome new artists to the Star Magic family,” he said, “we also want to express our deepest gratitude to the Star Magic artists chose to stay with us, as we continue to rebuild and explore new opportunities.”

On December 5, 2020, Angelica Panganiban gives hint to the nearest ending of their hit drama series Walang Hanggang Paalam.

On December 18, 2020, according to Tonyboy Bautista: "The Earth will be destroyed by the giant ball of fire from the outer space one year from now." It will not happen, because it's normal year, also the 500th anniversary of Christianity in the country.

On December 20, 2020, it garnered over 40 distinctions, including Best TV Station, at the 18th Gawad Tanglaw for the news and entertainment it has provided Filipinos in the previous year.

ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Carlo Katigbak was also awarded with the Gawad Natatanging Filipino sa Pamamahalang Broadcast Media (Telebisyon at Radyo), while Kapamilya stars Angel Locsin and Enchong Dee were recipients of the Gawad Tanglaw para sa Sining ng Sangkatauhan and Gawad Natatanging Kabataang Filipino para sa Sining at Kultura, respectively.

ABS-CBN Integrated News was a big winner with flagship newscast “TV Patrol” (including “TV Patrol Weekend”) winning Best News Program while “Heroes in the Hot Zone” and ANC’s “Beyond Politics” took home Best TV Documentary and Best Public Affairs Show, respectively.

In entertainment, “ASAP Natin ‘To” got the nod as Best Variety Show, “MMK” won Best Drama Anthology, and “Pamilya Ko” notched this year’s Best Drama Series award. Irma Adlawan’s moving performance in the “Passport” episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” also won her Best Actress in a Single Performance. Former “The General’s Daughter” co-stars Maricel Soriano, Janice De Belen, Eula Valdez, and Angel Locsin were co-winners in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category, while Arjo Atayde won Best Actor in a Drama Series for the role he played in the same program.

Gawad Tanglaw also presented the Jury Award for Arts and Sciences in Philippine Television (Posthumous) to the late Gina Lopez for her role in the creation of classic ETV shows “Hiraya Manawari,” “Sine’skwela,” and “MathTinik,” the travel and environmental show “G Diaries,” and Knowledge Channel. Documentary series “Dayaw,” which is hosted and conceptualized by Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda, was also honored with the Jury Award for Culture and Arts in Philippine Television.

no franchise, no problem and even those other than the Kapamilya Artists have taken over the fence eh you are The show must go on

They should show these on Kapamilya Channel instead of the old rerun shows and the Kapamilya Box Office.

"Together as one sa IWantTFC: Count Your Lucky Stars, Tenement 66, Horrorscope, Hoy I Love You, A Tale of a Thousand Stars and Unloving You"

let's wait and see.

Even the Star Cinema series. Guess we'll just have to wait.

2021 is an exciting year to wait.

yes .. especially with the vaccine we can see the full potential of their shift to digital new media and whether there will be a franchise.

For me, the situation is ok first because at least the digital sector of ABS-CBN has developed.

They don't push too much to get the franchise, especially since Marcoleta and the gang are heating them up, maybe later ABS-CBN's properties in Mother Ignacia will also be stolen.

I can't wait either .. Let's just wait for the next election.

but they apply right? It's a pity because the regional stations.

As far as I know, they have not applied again .. Lito Atienza just became vocal about giving the franchise again next year on ABS-CBN so the issue resounded even if only the regional stations could come back and DZMM on radio for in the news.

Teleradyo is still available on iWantTFC and cable and there is still an ABS-CBN Radio App in the app store .. MOR Philippines will also be re-launched on digital platforms.

how about those in far flung areas where internet is not accessible? It's a pity

By 2022 maybe, slowly first, it will also rise; willing to wait po

There is no pity there .. they got up when Martial Law is still here so true boss, the one in IWant TFC would have been released on Kapamilya Channel puro rerun lang kasi sa weekend hahaha

I kinda get the reason why not .. they want to rake new subscribers to iWantTFC like Netflix.

in fact, it seems like the ads are really low as long as cable and satellite TV. So maybe they just prefer digital platforms.

You forgot that they are also on free TV analog and digital and there are too many ads .. There are really dead timeslots that are much better for them not to air new shows for no loss .. Automatic because they can also be aired on Kapamilya Online Live by chance .. so for him to be exclusive, only at iWantTFC so that they can force people to subscribe. They also make a lot of money with adsense.

Abraham Baladad, Jr., head of Technical Production Systems of ABS-CBN News Digital Media, died on December 24, 2020 after battling cancer.

"At muli rin nagbalik as Kapamilya Channel kaya lang sa cable, iWantTFC, Kapamilya Online Live sa Facebook at YouTube"

Good thing na iba ito sa nangyari sa kanila noong Martial Law. They can still operate at least on Cable and Satellite TV in the meantime. Matatagalan pa talaga bago sila mabigyan ng bagong prangkisa. Or better wait for new administration na umupo. (Good thing this is different from what happened to them during Martial Law. They can still operate at least on Cable and Satellite TV in the meantime. It will be a long time before they are given a new franchise. Or better wait for new administration to sit down.)

Have you ever heard of plot twist? I am not a Kapamilya but we know that they are still influential? Yes I do. But you need to see the possible scenarios. Daming balimbing in Congress and Senate. Unless they will use this opportunity to show elegance for 2022 elections. But who knows what will happen in the future.

There is one in a million scenarios. 2021 is significant year to begin with. (no politicking intended) The underlying reason with what I've said is politics. Will some of them need ABS-CBN to increase their chances? Yes. All of them? No. I am sure that this franchise fiasco will end this year. 2022 is coming.

There have been pronouncements to renew the ABS-CBN franchise this 2021. Cayetano's allies who voted for franchise denial in Congress, Velasco is being replaced by some of his allies, pro-ABS-CBN congressmen.

This year would be an exciting year for ABS-CBN.

Formal resumption of radio and television broadcasts

ABS-CBN is strongly considering the suggestion of Rep. Jose Atienza, Jr. to re-apply for a new franchise come 2021.

Speaking about ABS-CBN and the coming of the vaccine on 2021 and the pandemic will end this 2021. I saw some new shows for 2021 on ABS-CBN earlier on Ikaw ang Liwanag at Ligaya: the ABS-CBN Christmas special 2020 on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z Channel 11, TFC and IWant TFC. I hope when ABS-CBN is back all the new shows will be perfect for the comeback of ABS-CBN on free TV.

According to Aldrine Polido: My predictions: On 2022, if ABS-CBN will granted its new franchise by the Congress at naresolba na ang mga issues na ibinabato sa kanila through major reforms, Here are my possible predictions what will happen on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z 11: Kapamilya Channel will likely to convert as an Asian Channel. Baka dito muna pansamantala ipapalabas ang mga playback ng mga dating Asianovelas plus movies local and internatipnal with anime block from Yey! A2Z 11 will likely convert to news TV plus sports TV. Lahat ng mga movies, asianovelas and anime ay ipapalabas sa Kapamilya Channel while news and sports sa A2Z kapag naibalik na sa free TV ang ABSCBN.

Wrong in such hahaha. Analog television applications are said to be freezed, therefore, if ABS-CBN wants to have simulcast of their programs analog-digital, probably A2Z that will be carry-over. Kapamilya Channel will rebrand or will go defunct. Siyempre, they will banner their name, ABS-CBN on its return. Their sports division will probably be formed again but on digital. 2022? Haha. Abangan ang susunod na kabanata.

2023 magshushutdown ang analog. A2Z have Channel 20 as a digitalized channel.

Hanggang 2024 pa ang blocktime agreement bet. Zoe and ABSCBN. Pero ang pagkakaalam ko if ABSCBN will be back on air via Free TV, ang aalisin lang siguro diyan sa program lineup ni A2Z is yung mga ibang shows ng ABS like ASAP, Its Showtime, MMK etc.

Moving date as mentioned previously. It means maybe later or earlier. Also, it takes one or two years pa. Bagama't malapit na, siyempre dahil ABS-CBN is a big entity and nabawi na nga yung frequency nila. Acquisition of frequency and if ever, simulcasting their main channel on analog is their options.

my guess if the blocktime is profitable then A2Z can be used as a duplicate feed of ABS-CBN on primetime since di hamak na mas malakas signal nila sa analog (100kw) sing linaw daw nila GMA, just like what they did with Studio 23 during the Meteor Garden craze and TV Patrol's then popularity until 24 Oras was launched.

Again, analog television application is said on freeze. Obviously, the blocktime agreement, if and if the ASO is beyond 2023. Most probably, ABS-CBN will still put their programs on A2Z in analog.

Kung mawawala na ang analog after 2023, all channels like PTV, ABS-CBN, GMA, ABC etc. will likely convert to digital or still may analog pa sa mga Free TV? yes kasi mandated na yung analog shut off by then. Kung pwede nga gawin ng mas maaga the better kasi marami naman na ang nakakabili ng ISDB-T boxes for as low as 799 at ISDB-T ready TVs eh.

As for the ABS-CBN franchise, sa tingin ko pwede sya ma-grant ng mas maaaga siguro before 2022 elections.

Posible kasing gamitin ng ilang congressmen yang franchise renewal sa kanilang mga kampanya or sa pagpapabango ng pangalan nila sa mga constituents nila. Dagdag pa ang reshuffling of House committee chairmanship posts under Speaker Velasco.

if marerevive ng ABS-CBN ang sports division nila, mukhang malabo na nilang makuha ang UAAP, NCAA, MPBL, PVL and One Championships dahil under contract na sila sa ibang network. Ang magagawa na lang nila is to air international sports leagues like MLB, NHL, UEFA, PGA, NCAA March Madness, X-Games etc. NBA, 50-50 pa since 3 year lang ang contract nito sa Cignal-TV5. Pwede namang makipagsanib pwersa sa TV5 to air NBA Games. What do you think?

as of now MPBL and PVL has no TV carrier, possible na mapunta sila either sa PTV or GMA.

As long as nakarecover na financially ang ABS-CBN at kaya nila bayaran ang airing rights ng mga foreign leagues na binanggit mo, it's possible.

GMA for PVL while MPBL mukhang malabo sa GMA especially sa News TV because may mga mababangga silang schedule especially kapag 3-game sked sila. Naaapektuhan nga ang 1st game nila kadalasan because of UAAP, NCAA and PVL nong nasa ABSCBN S and A pa ito. Much better for MPBL na gawing mas maaga ang games nila especially triple header ang laro nila. PTV 4 will be possible. Pero ang masaklap diyan is mababangga ang News @ 6 nila. Ang kailangan ng PTV is to adjust their broadcast hours.

Lahat ng yan puwedeng bumalik sa Dos maliban sa NCAA hahaha.

My thoughts on this is, kapag matapos ng kontrata, babalik ang UAAP and some of the other sports leagues sa ABS Sports once bumalik na sila sa free TV.

Dito naman sa suggestion mo tungkol sa foriegn sports leagues, papatok ba yan sa masa besides the NBA and the NCAA? Remember when TV5 acquired the NFL and the Super Bowl? I mean pwede naman, pero as I’ve said before na the local leagues will probably go back to ABS-CBN once they go back to free TV at natapos na ang contracts nila.

Well. Let's find out on 2023 if analog television broadcasts in this country has pulled out and move to fully digital format

Just I see. Pero palagay ko in case of MPBL, sakaling maging maaga ang games nila ex. 2 PM, posibleng maapektuhan ang timeslot ng UAAP in case na bumalik ito sa ABS-CBN. All have to is to adjust schedules alloted for MPBL. Ibang games lang ang napapalabas nila ng live then yung iba on the next day na via delayed basis.

(According to Aldrine Polido: My predictions: On 2022, if ABS-CBN will be granted its new franchise by the Congress and the issues being thrown at them through major reforms have been resolved, Here are my possible predictions of what will happen on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z 11: Kapamilya Channel will likely to convert as an Asian Channel. Maybe the playbacks of former Asianovelas plus local and international movies with anime block from Yey will be released here temporarily! A2Z 11 will likely convert to news TV plus sports TV. All movies, asianovelas and anime will be aired on Kapamilya Channel while news and sports on A2Z when ABS-CBN is restored to free TV.

Wrong in such hahaha. Analog television applications are said to be freezed, therefore, if ABS-CBN wants to have simulcast of their analog-digital programs, probably A2Z that will be carry-over. Kapamilya Channel will go defunct. Of course, they will banner their name, ABS-CBN on its return. Their sports division will probably be formed again but on digital. 2022? Haha. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

2023 analog shutdown. A2Z have Channel 20 as a digitalized channel.

The blocktime agreement bet is until 2024. Zoe TV and ABS-CBN. But as far as I know if ABS-CBN will be back on air via Free TV, the only thing that will probably be removed from A2Z's program lineup are other ABS-CBN shows like ASAP, Its Showtime, MMK etc.

Moving date as mentioned previously. It means maybe later or earlier. Also, it takes one or two more years. Although it is close, of course because ABS-CBN is a big entity and their frequency has been recovered. Acquisition of frequency and if ever, simulcasting their main channel on analog is their options.

my guess if the blocktime is profitable then A2Z can be used as a duplicate feed of ABS-CBN on primetime since they have a much stronger signal than the analog (100kw) clear GMA, just like what they did with Studio 23 during the Meteor Garden craze and TV Patrol's then popularity until 24 Oras was launched.

Again, analog television application is said on freeze. Obviously, the blocktime agreement, if and if the ASO is beyond 2023. Most probably, ABS-CBN will still put their programs on A2Z in analog.

If analog is lost after 2023, all channels like PTV, ABS-CBN, GMA, ABC etc. will likely convert to digital or still have analog on Free TVs? yes kasi mandated na yung analog shut off by then. If it can be done earlier the better because many can already buy ISDB-T boxes for as low as 799 and ISDB-T ready TV's.

As for the ABS-CBN franchise, I think he can be granted sooner maybe before the 2022 elections.

It is even possible for some congressmen to use franchise renewal in their campaigns or in promoting their constituents. The reshuffling of House committee chairmanship posts under Speaker Velasco.

if ABS-CBN revives their sports division, it looks like they will not win the UAAP, NCAA, MPBL, PVL and One Championships because they are already under contract with another network. All they can do is to air international sports leagues like MLB, NHL, UEFA, PGA, NCAA March Madness, X-Games etc. NBA, 50-50 more since its contract with Cignal-TV5 is only 3 years. TV5 to air NBA Games can join forces. What do you think?

as of now MPBL and PVL has no TV carrier, it is possible that they will either go to PTV or GMA.

As long as ABS-CBN recovers financially and they can pay the airing rights of the foreign leagues you mentioned, it's possible.

GMA for PVL while MPBL seems vague on GMA especially on News TV because they have collision schedules especially when they are 3-game sked. Their 1st game is usually affected because of UAAP, NCAA and PVL when it was still in ABSCBN S and A. Much better for MPBL to make their games earlier especially their triple header game. PTV 4 will be possible. But the sad thing is that their News @ 6 will collide. What PTV needs is to adjust their broadcast hours.

All of that can go back to ABS-CBN except the NCAA hahaha.

My thoughts on this is, when the contract expires, the UAAP and some of the other sports leagues will return to ABS-CBN Sports once they return to free TV.

Here is your suggestion about foriegn sports leagues, will it be popular with the masses besides the NBA and the NCAA? Remember when TV5 acquired the NFL and the Super Bowl? I mean it can, but as I’ve said before the local leagues will probably go back to ABS-CBN once they go back to free TV and their contracts are over.

All have to is to adjust schedules alloted for MPBL. They can only play other games live then the others on the next day via delayed basis.

Delta, on the other hand, can be a digitalized TV channel. Because since the pandemic, El Shaddai is no longer televised on IBC 13.

Let us pray that the Delta Broadcasting System will air via digitalize Channel 35, so that technology will not be left behind

On December 29, 2020, ABS-CBN's shares shares added 6 centavos or -.51 percent to finish at P11.68 each.

Iba talaga ABS-CBN kahit walang prangkisa, lowest nila around 6 pesos noong off air sila, then unti-unting tumaas nung nagpapahaging si Vice Ganda ng free-to-air comeback until ABS-CBN and ZOE TV deal was finally announced, naging two-digit ang share price.

Yes possible yan if ABS-CBN will have at least a nationwide free TV analog and digital comeback between 2021-2022.

(ABS-CBN is really different even without a franchise, they lowest around 6 pesos when they were off air, then gradually increased when Vice Ganda shared a free-to-air comeback until ABS-CBN and ZOE TV deal was finally announced, became two share the share price. It's good that you are investing in stocks now, I have shares there. Just preparation if ABS-CBN franchise gets renewed

you're right sir if it ever renews it will plummet up its stock price when stepping on 20 more is probably too late

Yes it is possible if ABS-CBN will have at least a nationwide free TV analog and digital comeback between 2021-2022)

Network executives led by chairman Mark Lopez and president and chief executive officer Carlo Katigbak began the arduous task of resuming broadcasts.

The Securities and Exchange Commission granted their application for an increase in capitalization and amendments to ABS-CBN's articles of incorporation and by-laws. They were subsequently granted a permit to operate by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

On the same day, Senate President Vicente Sotto III filed a Senate Bill No. 1967 that seeks to grant ABS-CBN's franchise for another 50 years, with at least 16 senators backing its support for Sotto's bill.

The special edition of Gising Pilipinas focused on the inauguration of president Leni Robredo and reopening of the network's free TV and radio broadcasting operations and featured statements by ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Carlo Katigbak and chairman Mark López.

The President is actually looking forward to the end of his six-year term and his return to his home city of Davao.

Duterte left the Malacañang Palace and Manila for a final time as commander-in-chief on June 30 after a tumultuous presidency stained by deep political divisions, and a pandemic that caused one milion deaths.

The president departed the Malacañang Palace, saying it had been a great honor to serve and giving a final wave as he boarded the helicopter for Davao City, where he delivered farewell remarks.

"So just a goodbye. We love you. We will be back in some form," Duterte told supporters before boarding the presidential helicopter for a flight to Davao. "Have a good life. We will see you soon."

The plane then taxied and lifted off as Frank Sinatra's classic song "My Way" played over the loudspeakers.

Duterte left a note for his successor, Leni Robredo, a spokesman confirmed. Duterte has to mention Robredo's name even as she wished the incoming administration luck on his way out of office.

Duterte, 77, bade his farewell hours before Robredo was to be inaugurated. That made him that marks the formal transfer of power, in a final display of pique.

Duterte's arrival at his Davao city residence is being timed to get him before his term as president expires at noon.

"I will always fight for you. I will be watching. I will be listening. And I will tell you that the future of this country has never been better," Duterte said in his final public remarks. "I wish the new administration great luck and great success. I think they'll have great success. They have the foundation to do something really spectacular."

Duterte has a long way to go to rebuild an image left in tatters by his stormy presidency, particularly the final months.

At around 12 noon, Leni Robredo is sworn in as the country's 17th President during her inauguration at the Barasoain Church in Malolos City, Bulacan. 47-year old Robredo is the oldest president in history and becomes the 17th president of the country

It reuses the 2014 slogan Masayang Muli ang Kwento Natin featuring the song Tayo'y Magsayawan/Rock Baby Rock medley by Enrique Gil from the album King of the Gil.
