After witnessing the continuous positive impact of PLDT Gabay Guro’s programs and what it does to the betterment of the plight of the Filipino teacher, PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan last year expressed his desire to expand the reach of Gabay Guro by bringing it to the different provinces in the country.
In no time, Gabay Guro Foundation’s kind-hearted Chairman Chaye Cabal-Revilla has mobilized the team of dedicated volunteers and the wheels of Gabay Guro’s pillars have since been grinding non-stop. This year alone, Gabay Guro has been to the provinces of Agusan, Bulacan and Bataan conducting trainings and workshops, and bringing the much-awaited teacherfest right to their doorsteps.
And to cap a very fruitful 2018, Chairman Revilla announced that on Dec. 6 (Thursday) Gabay Guro’s teacherfest will go to Navotas to spread early holiday cheers to the teachers there. Ms. Revilla says, “We partnered with the LGU for this event. We want Navotas to experience this firsthand because we know that it is in these events where teachers get to experience the tribute they deserve.”
The star-studded event will be held at the Navotas Sports Complex where an estimated 4,000 teachers are expected to gather for a day full of fun, prizes, and world-class entertainment to be led by the country’s biggest performers - Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Gabby Concepcion, Jona, Julie Anne San Jose, Renz Verano, Jason Dy and Randy Santiago, along with comedians Ate Gay and Regina.
Ms. Revilla and the Gabay Guro team of visionaries advocate that, “our nation’s children depend on our nation’s teachers to lead them to the future.”
Gabay Guro is propelled by these Pillars of Learnings --- Scholarships (1,300 scholars in 45 state colleges and universities nationwide; 500 LET passers, and 800 graduates, 234 are honor graduates); Livelihood Programs; Housing and Educational Facilities (40 classrooms constructed and donated in Cebu, Bohol, Leyte and Capiz); Broadband and Computerization (47 partner schools received computer donations and broadband connection); Teachers Training (trained over 40,000 teachers in over eight training programs); Teachers’ Tribute, and the latest addition, Innovation. Introduced last September at the MOA Arena grand gathering, Innovation Pillar will have initiatives that will equip teachers, school leaders, school staff and other stakeholders with an empowering innovation mindset meant to connect schools, industry and communities.
Soon, Innovation Pillar will be trumpeted by the launch of the Gabay Guro app where teachers, parents and students can benefit tremendously. The interactive app can help the teacher access lesson plans, educational materials, upload grades, etc. which will also be accessible to the parent and the student.
Gabay Guro is now running on its 11th year, carrying with it a history littered with awards and citations. Among these are the Gawad Tanglaw award, Anvil Awards and from the Phil. Association of National Advertisers (PANA) and the Philippine Quill Awards.

GMA, ABS-CBN claim ratings leadership in November
The ratings battle between the operators of the country’s two largest television networks continued through November this year, with mega Manila remaining hotly contested territory.
GMA Network Inc. and rival ABS-CBN Corp. each released ratings data for the month of November.
GMA, which uses data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, said it was ahead in urban ratings while ABS-CBN, which gets its data from Kantar Media, claimed a lead nationwide.
In its statement, GMA announced an average total day people audience share of 38.6 percent in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (Nutam).
It said this was higher than ABS-CBN’s 37.5 percent.
ABS-CBN, for its part, claimed a 45-percent national audience share for November against 30 percent for GMA.
ABS-CBN also dominated the list of the 10 highest-rating programs in November. “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” drew the highest viewership among all shows, hitting an average national TV rating of 40.3 percent.
Variety show “It’s Showtime” is still the most watched noontime show in the country with a national TV rating of 38.9 percent on weekdays and 35.2 percent on Saturdays, against its rival “Eat Bulaga” which only got 34.8 percent on weekdays and 36.4 percent on Saturdays, ABS-CBN said.
Other ABS-CBN programs on the top 19 are “TV Patrol,” “Ngayon at Kailanman,” “Halik,” “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” “Bandila,” “The Kids’ Choice,” “ASAP Natin ‘To,” “Banana Sundae,” “Goin’ Bulilit,” “Wansapanataym,” “Home Sweetie Home,” “Pinoy Big Brother: Otso,” “MMK,” “Rated K,” “I Can See Your Voice,” “Gandang Gabi Vice,” “Playhouse,” “Ipaglaban Mo,” “Kadenang Ginto,” “Los Bastardos” and “Meteor Garden.”

GMA, ABS-CBN claim ratings leadership in November

TV ratings war continues in November
THE two major broadcast networks ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network, Inc. kept its neck-and-neck battle for audience share as both claimed ratings lead in the month of November, citing different reports from third-party data providers.
In a statement, Lopez-led ABS-CBN said its average audience share reached 45% in November versus GMA’s 30%, citing Kantar Media data which covered 2,610 urban and rural homes.
On the other hand, GMA said its average total day people audience share is at 38.6% in November, beating ABS-CBN’s 37.5%, based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. Nielsen claims its report covers “900 more homes surveyed in Total Urban and Rural Philippines compared to Kantar.”
ABS-CBN said the Kantar report found it dominated households in Mega Manila with 37% audience share versus GMA’s 29%, and in Metro Manila with 43% share versus its rival’s 23%.
In terms of ratings based on time slots, ABS-CBN said it led the competition across all blocks, starting with a 49% audience share in the primetime block compared to 30% for GMA.
For other time slots, ABS-CBN said it had a 37% share in the morning block (6 a.m. to 12 noon) versus 26% for GMA; 43% in the noontime block (12 noon to 3 p.m.) against 31% for its rival; and 45% in the afternoon block (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.) as opposed to GMA’s 32%.
