The 24th Southeast Asian Games on GMA-7 and QTV-11: it was a coverage of a lifetime after 12 years

For nine days, GMA-7 and QTV-11 airs the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from December 6 to 15, 2007. It was broadcasting live via the GMA Network Rainbow Satellite, with updates on Radyo Bisig-Bayan and Campus Radio stations nationwide.



GMA broadcasts on 105 analog and digital free-to-air television stations all over the Philippines, broadcasting live via the GMA Network Rainbow Satellite.

It feels like 1995 for GMA, when the network was branded as GMA Rainbow Satellite Network and the slogans Where You Belong, Kapuso ng Bawat Pilipino and Isa sa Puso ng Pilipino. GMA was the official network of Pope John Paul II's visit to the 10th World Youth Day in Manila, Philippines from January 12 to 16, 1995.

But for Unang Hirit, the number one morning show aired at 5:30 a.m. after the replay of GMA Network News on Monday and Saksi: GMA Headline Balita on Tuesday to Friday, they featured the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from December 6 to 15, 2007.

Then at 11 a.m., catch Janice de Belen, Gelli de Belen-Rivera and Carmina Villaruel-Legaspi on SiS, similar to Katok mga Misis aired in 1995.



At noontime, catch Pia Arcangel and Raffy Tima on Balitanghali. Balitanghali was a noontime news program of GMA Rainbow Satellite Network was launched along the transfer of Eat Bulaga! on the said network last January 28, 1995.


Then, the country's longest-running and top-rated noontime variety show entitled Eat Bulaga! produced by TAPE, Inc., aired on the GMA Rainbow Satellite Network, because of Sexbomb Dancers and EB! Babes as well the loveteam of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza also known as AlDub, it was not affected by GMA's coverage of the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from December 6 to 15, 2007. It aired live episodes from November 26 to December 1, 2007, while taped episodes from December 3 to 8, 2007 and December 10 to 15, 2007.

But for Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon along with original co-host Coney Reyes, as well as current co-hosts Jimmy Santos, Maricel Soriano, Aiza Seguerra, Carmina Villaroel, Lady Lee, Jose Manalo, Donna Cruz, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Francis Magalona, Fire (Ana Rivera & Soraya Sinsuat), Inday Garutay, Lyn Ching-Pascual, Allan K., Wally Bayola, K Brosas, Janno Gibbs, Paolo Ballesteros, Pauleen Luna, BJ Forbes, Ciara Sotto, Cindy Kurleto, Julia Clarete, and Ryan Agoncillo, were on vacation for a live tour entitled “Eat Bulaga! sa Abu Dhabi” at the Abu Dhabi National Theatre in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates last December 5, 2007.

The tour was a grand celebration of the popular noontime show’s success, attracting thousands of excited fans from different parts of the world. From the moment the hosts took the stage, the energy in the theater was electrifying.

Tito, Vic, and Joey, the pioneers of the show, brought their trademark humor and wit, leaving the audience in stitches with their comedic timing. The chemistry among the hosts was undeniable, with each one showcasing their unique talents and charm.

The crowd was treated to a series of entertaining segments, including the iconic “Pinoy Henyo” game, where contestants had to guess words based on clues given by the hosts. The laughter and excitement filled the air as the contestants struggled to come up with the correct answers.

Maricel Soriano, known for her versatile acting skills, showcased her talent in a special performance that left the audience in awe. Aiza Seguerra, the multi-talented singer-songwriter, serenaded the crowd with her heartfelt rendition of popular hits.

Carmina Villaroel and Lady Lee added a touch of glamour and elegance to the show with their stunning outfits and captivating stage presence. Jose Manalo, the resident funnyman, never failed to elicit laughter from the audience with his hilarious antics and comedic timing.

At 2 p.m., Daisy Siete, a daily anthology hosted by Sexbomb Girls. It is a Filipino adaptation of The Restless Years. Starting in Season 7, Daisy Siete renamed to May Bukas Pa ng Kahapon as part of Daisy Siete's lineup. The other season name title, is parodied to fairy tales made by Hans Christian Andersen.


Some of the milestones for the Rainbow Network in 2007:

April 15: GMA-7 launched its second corporate all-star station ID in the Kapuso era, bearing the tagline 'Kapuso ng bawat Pilipino'. The jingle was a rehash of the original 2002 jingle, and was sung by Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Janno Gibbs, Jaya, Karylle, Jolina Magdangal, Kyla and Jay-R along with the first two winners/runners-up of Pinoy Pop Superstar (Jona Viray, Brenan Espartinez, Aicelle and Gerald Santos) and Sugarpop.

April 29: marked the premiere of the showbiz-oriented talk show Showbiz Central on GMA-7's Linggo Bingo line-up. Originally hosted by John Lapus, Pia Guanio and Raymond Gutierrez. Highlights of the premiere episode which was uploaded early this month include Angel Locsin revealing that she has bought a new car, Wilma Doesnt's birth of her second child, an interview with then-real life couple Jennylyn Mercado and Patrick Garcia, Dennis Trillo confirming if he has a profile on a website which has uploaded his rumored video, and Rustom Padilla opening up about his failed braces before becoming BB Gandanghari. The Central Jury consisted of talent manager Shirley Kuan, DJ Mo Twister and host-actor Arnell Ignacio.

GMA-7's 'Special Mission Sa Telebisyon': programming line-up for late September and October 2007


September 24: The premiere of Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan on GMA Telebabad. Starring Dennis Trillo, Aljur Abrenica and the late Marky Cielo, it concluded on February 8, 2008.

November 19, 2007 marked the premiere of Kamandag on GMA's Telebabad block. It was the climax of Richard Gutierrez' prime as one of their primetime kings, few months after Lupin ended. It concluded on April 25, 2008.
