Finale presentation of ‘Obra Ni Juan’

We were one of those invited to the finale presentation of “Obra Ni Juan,” the latest musical play of Philippine Stagers Foundation. Held at St. Scholastica’s College in Malate, the highlight staging of “Obra Ni Juan” had King of Talk Boy Abunda as special guest of honor and speaker.

Recounting his theater background, Boy was generous in praising the production merits of the play that tells the story of Juan Luna along with other Philippine national heroes including Dr. Jose Rizal, Antonio Luna, Andres Bonifacio, Marcelo del Pilar, et al. Boy was also honest in saying he regrets never having the chance to watch any of the PSF’s musical plays in its 17 years of existence.

Note that PSF founder Vince Tañada had set aside his profession as a lawyer in favor of his passion for the arts. The company aims to propagate Philippine arts and culture through educational and entertaining musical plays. So far, PSF staged no less than 400 times all over the country.

Anyway, PSF is again conducting its annual summer workshop for free at its studio in Sampaloc, Manila. The workshop is for all ages – from eight to 80 years old. The workshop starts today and culminates with a recital on May 30.
