World-class achievers honored 0 SHARES Share it! By: Crispina Martinez-Belen Published January 28, 2017, 12:05 AM

Multi-awarded Filipina singer-civic leader Emma Toba (Emma Cordero), who won the title “Woman of the Universe” at the 2016 Mrs. Universe pageant, will lead a group in honoring world-class achievers in various fields from the US, Japan, Sri Lanka and the Philippines in a dinner ceremony at Heritage Hotel tonight.

The 82 honorees were selected by World Class Excellence Japan Award (WCEJA), an organization founded by Toba in 2015 that pays tribute to achievers from all over the world. Among them are Freddie Aguilar, Heber Bartolome, Randy Santiago, Lito Camo, US-based Filipino jazz singer Lourdes Duque-Baron, actors Juan Rodrigo and Gary Estrada, and broadcasters Boy Abunda, Jobert Sucaldito, and Andy Verde.

“Our awardees are not only those who have been honored many times over the years but also those being recognized for the first time because, for some reasons, they have been overlooked by award-giving bodies. The WCEJA is envisioned to be a source of inspiration to people whose passion for excellence in their crafts is so much alive and whose desire to bring pride and honor to their country is part of their dreams and aspirations,” said Toba.

Several entertainment journalists are also among the awardees, including this columnist.

From Japan, the awardees are Aisaku Yokogawa, Murauchi Takashi, Grace Ballesteros Kuramo.
