Indie film inspired by mysteries of Banahaw

Filmmaker Sir RCA’s movie “Hiwaga: Ang Paglalakbay Sa Liwanag Ng Buhay” was inspired by his travels around the Philippines as president of the T3 Community Foundation.

Established in 2008, the foundation supports indigenous communities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao including the Katutubong Dumagat, the Aetas and the Mangyans.

“It originated in Antipolo City and we now have more than 80,000 members sa buong kapuluan,” he related. “We are targeting more members who could help and be an inspiration sa ating mga kakatubong kapatid.

“Hindi lahat ng mga katutubo natin ay mga civilized na. Mas marami pa rin sa kanila ang nasa gitna ng mga gubat at namumuhay ng payak.”

It’s not surprising that “Hiwaga: Ang Paglalakbay Sa Liwanag Ng Buhay” has Mt. Banahaw as backdrop. The story has tales of the diwatas that protect Mt. Banahaw , thus, adding a touch of fantasy to the film.

“Wala sa plano na gamitan ng fantasy, nasa bundok ng Banahaw po kami at sobrang nadadala kami ng mga kwento habang ginagawa namin ’yung movie,” he shared. “At nakita ko ’yung inspiration ng mga tao doon na merong mga pina-paniwalaang mga diwata and sobrang sagrado ’yung lugar. Doon ko hinugot ’yung simpleng fantasy sa movie.”

Another aspect of the film he is most proud of is its young cast. “Happy ako may mga taong tulad ng mga magulang ng mga batang ito na pinapayagan ’yung mga anak nilang maging part ng industriya. At sana magamit din nila ito sa future sa patuloy ng kanilang pangarap at maging mga inspirasyon.”

“Hiwaga: Ang Paglalakbay Sa Liwanag Ng Buhay” stars John Mc Earl, Jiane Abalos, Anne Catherine Cueblo, Michaella Torres, Joshua Dave Clemente, Althea Oredina, Tricia Pacao, Sharaine Parce with Donna Oredina.

Showing in cinemas tomorrow, “Hiwaga: Ang Paglalakbay Sa Liwanag Ng Buhay” is produced by M7 Films, T3PTC Artists Management and Michelle Estrada.

Promising

“Starstruck VI” Ultimate Female Survivor Klea Pineda feels so blessed that instead of making a wish for her debut, she’d rather give thanks for everything she has achieved.

She’s especially grateful for being given the chance to be in the cast of the telefantasya “Encantadia.” Through her character as Muyak, Klea projects charm and fierceness, something viewers and netizens have found endearing.

Another young Kapuso star who’s showing great promise is Koreen Medina who plays Marjorie in the well-followed primetime series “Destined To Be Yours.”

Viewers and netizens say Koreen gives her kontrabida character a different slant.
